Changed some things. People kept telling me to remove the jacket, so how does it look now? If you have any ideas as far as the design goes, I'm open to everything.
The proportions are a bit better now but her arms look too long in my opinion. When she rests her shoulders the arms will be lower.
Also, the 3/4 shot looks like it's from an ortographic camera which fools the eye quite a bit. Ortographic is good for perpendicular shots of the model but other angles will look like crap.
Maybe post another 3/4 pic with a perspective camera?

Finally time to decide!
I've been applying for internships for some time and I got accepted to a few but I'm weighing the options between the two most interesting ones. I need to decide tomorrow where to go but I can't really make up my mind.
You guys could help me out a bit if you want.
One is a VFX/animation company and the other is a game dev. Both are pretty much equally interesting to me so yeah.
Vote agree:
1. Fake Graphics http://www.fakegraphics.com/
Vote disagree:
2. Bugbear http://bugbear.fi/
Bugbear are cool.
I'd go for the VFX/Animation company.
I'd go for the VFX/Animation company.
Agreed. Partly because of my own personal preference, but also because I believe you'll stand stronger experience wise coming from a year of varied animation tasks than from a game dev company, where beginners often model assets, clean up code, or other less important tasks. This I base on absolutely zero experience in games development, only vfx/animation.
The question is, what pays more, and is that job more fun / interesting? VFX seems okay but if you're interested more in games then go for the developer.

I know a few guys from Bugbear and it's not a bad company to work at I hear.

I'll say bugbear because I have friends there.
Personally I would probably go with FG since i'm also very interested in offline graphics, but I'm pretty happy with Futuremark, it's a good middle ground.
Thanks for the input guys, you make valid points.
On one hand I'm leaning a bit towards game development since the experience from it I have so far has been interesting and enjoyable. I've also got the impression that work in game development in Finland is a bit more secure than in VFX or animation. The guy from Bugbear also hinted at possible employment after the internship so that's a plus as well.
On the other hand I think I'd learn more stuff that I don't already know from FG and I'm interested in that as well. They're one of the larger VFX/anim companies in Finland with plenty of skillful people to soak knowledge from.
The downside is that they probably wouldn't hire me afterwards though since they work a lot with freelancers and get a lot of stuff that they don't make in house done through them. I'm guessing the ones they actually hire to work for them are far more experienced than I'll be in several years.
Blargh. :suicide:

Now I have even more wood stuff, at this rate i'll build a house soon.
What's your process for props like these? They're amazing! Are you modeling high poly and then baking the detail down on to a low poly?
modeled myself in my 3d retro style
will post once i make an environment for me to be in!!
Learning Maya now, first project in class is to make a laser gun thing.
It goes "PEW PEW PEW"

It isn't done and I might change the colors, but I figured I did enough to show what I got so far.
Update picture host, niggaupload was being retarded.
What's your process for props like these? They're amazing! Are you modeling high poly and then baking the detail down on to a low poly?
I use zBrush and I make some random shapes with zspheres, then sculpt the fuck out of it.
Export the highpoly into topogun where I build the lowpoly.
Then 3dsmax for uv maps, then xnormal for AO, normal, cavity and heightmap baking.
Mudbox for seamless diffuse texturing, using projected photos over the 3d geometry.
And finally some photoshop magic and beauty render in marmoset.
Time is running short so I did some changes and decided it's final. Working on a zombified version now. (it's a zombie game)

That sleeve tear looks pretty silly. Looks more like a comically exploded gun barrel than a torn shirt.
Unless she happens to secretly have guns for arms, in which case it looks great.
have u ever been outside
clearly not because u dont know what a tree stump looks like in soft light lol
i get what you're saying, but the reflection just looks unnatural to me. it reminds me more of a plastic stump then an actual stump.
So I had to make up my mind today. Both companies had a lot to offer and I don't know if it was the right decision but I went with Bugbear.
Hard to do these kinds of decisions when you're interested in so many different things. :v:
Trying some zbrush for the first time(not first time modeling):

Love the fact you can create a clean base mesh in minutes with zspheres which is great for making creatures and other organic stuff.

Is that the bronze octopus table?
Is that the bronze octopus table?
Yes! It's not supposed to be an exact copy but glad someone recognized it, it may mean it's at least somewhat recognizable :v:

I think it's a bit too noisy with sharp details so it looks like concrete.

Well, it's not like you're nailed to that job for the rest of your life.

The Zbrush one only has six legs!

Yeah I know. Still getting into game dev might not help me all that much if I decide on VFX later on.
The Zbrush one only has six legs!
It will be 3d printed and each leg is tons of hours to print haha
