Trees are always a bitch to make. Now I get to make this one with foliage.

Not bad for a days work, also today listened to the entire audiobook for Michael Crichton's Sphere, good book.
Also all of this done with a cast right hand, broke my hand last week.
How do you do that and what program do you use? Also, if it's 3ds max, does anyone know how to change the graphics setting so my viewports won't be white?
How do you mean, completely white as in a rendering issue or change the background color from white (which it shouldn't be by default)?

As in my graphics card doesn't support directX anymore, like this.

I fixed it before, but my computer has long ago been formatted and I forgot how to do it, so did google, as in I couldn't find the proper way to fix it.
As in my graphics card doesn't support directX anymore, like this.
Are you trying to use the directX drivers?
Are you trying to use the directX drivers?
Nope, regular set up, although the last time my graphics card was updated was in 2009, but can someone tell me where to change it to OpenGL, Nitris, or Software? I know it's a program somewhere, thats the part I forgot.

I'm not in a pile of cash, nor in a pile of even quarters, I'm not exactly even middle class so I can't buy another graphics card.
Customize->preferences then click the viewport tab and click choose driver at the bottom.

Fixed thank you.
Hey, I was wondering: what program(s) do you guys use to do your modelling? I need to stop using Misfit Model 3D.
3ds Max, Blender, Maya, etc.
First model,uv map and texture have been finished.
[img_thumb]http://puu.sh/18H5e[/img_thumb]
How do you guys handle aligning things correctly while creating the texure, to avoid seams and such? Is it just a trial and error thing?

Also a good thing to know is that you can use 2:1 textures. Like 1024x512, that box would probably fit better into that.

Since all sides are the same, why not put the UV faces on top of eachother?
they're not the same, they're unique.
The outer most faces are al identical, but the model would benefit from some subtle AO, so I wouldn't recommend optimising the UV in such a way.
Various walletz.

You should have changed the pivot point, it's rotating around where his tail begins instead of at the center of his body.
However if the pivot point were at the center of its body the image would've had to been unnecessarily wide to prevent the tail clipping out of it.
i place everything to ensure that nothing ever gets cropped, it doesn't really matter where the pivot is.
How's my nooby little Thompson looking, guys?

The shading on the bottom 2 makes it look like the pockets are very loose which would be impractical to hold various cards

I can see what you mean but if they're small props that are on the floor (which I'm assuming they would be) something that small is just nitpicking.
Good model though, I'm just not sure how many wallets I've seen that curl up around the edges like that when they go old, must be badly made :v:

The wallet I mean, not the model.

Also did I mention how much of a bitch it is to make folliage? No wonder no one takes the time to do it most of the time.

It has been a productive day, now I need to make small palms, bushes, ivy and small plants and crops and various grass sprites.

Pretty much. Actually no, that's exactly what it is.

I've seen loads of old leather wallets do that.
