Are the wings permanently bent? It looks weird with the hinge. It seem as though it should be able to straighten, but they can't given the way the two wing pieces meet.
You aren't putting any sense of materials in your textures. they're also coming out really blurry for a 512
I'm trying to but this is only my second hand drawn texture. The blade itself is suppose to be stone while of course the handle is wood but I suppose I shouldn't have to explain that. I'll work on it.
Is there a better way of making that fit into the model? The thing I did is that I made it from a plane and a cylinder and then made it fit into the model, by slicing so I could collapse vertices. Probably not the best way, but I'm in no way a professional.
I didn't want to do this because it's hard to paint out what I mean.
Anywho, gave it a quick try.
In my opinion you could merge the verts in the direction of the arrows to save some polys. Unless they contribute to the shape and I can't see that from this angle.

Has anyone tried this modeling program?
http://www.daz3d.com/products/hexagon/hexagon-whats-new/
I know Daz Studio is nothing special, but it was one of the first 3D programs I ever used, and I decided to see what's new. Apparently they are celebrating a ten year anniversary of sorts, and have made all of their software free for a limited time. I have no clue if this means they're disabled after a certain date or not, but I'm definitely going to check out Bryce because god knows I've always wanted to. I have a very strange fascination with terrain generators and renderers, I used to fiddle with Terragen for hours upon hours.

I remember trying Daz 3D, and it was just stock models, with no ability to actually make anything.
Whether it's changed or not, I'm not sure.
First time testing out the turbosmooth pro plugin for max. Removes the need for support loops and instead smooths by vertex/edge weight, or smoothing groups. I think it's a lot easier to use so far.

It's been available for free for a "limited time" for probably over a year by now so I guess they're not in a hurry with taking down the offer. :v:
I don't like the skis at that position. They look like they can break easily. Other than that it looks great.
How would you change the position? They're still pretty wip so anything's possible.

I'm not sure I get what you mean. They're supposed to kinda fold sorta like this: http://farm5.staticflickr.com/4111/4993745222_63b870e248_z.jpg

Skis like that can work on an aircraft, you need to lower your hull though, like this:

Or maybe add a third ski underneath the hull, could be interesting when done right.
I would position the skis underneath the hull like this:

You can put them closer to the hull if you want, just experiment till you feel good about them.
And show us!

They can really go anywhere since they seem to be snow skis.
the C130 has them on the bottom for example.

I know that, I'm just saying if he wants to keep them like that he at least needs to add a third ski on the hull itself. Even the c130 has 3 skis which makes sense.

I was first thinking it'd have two on the wings and one in the front but since I sticked that air intake in I'm gonna have to put the third in the back. It's gonna have one, it's just not there yet.
And it's gonna have more support for the struts, just haven't gotten around adding it.
I'm currently figuring out how to learn 3DS Max and I've heard a few people in this thread say that hard surface modelling is superior to box modelling. If this is true, I'm assuming that using this video to start out with the basics and work up is a good idea?

Ah that's good, the third ski could run along the whole length of the plane, would look sweet IMO.

Hm, wings only really need to fold like that if the plane's going to be stored confined (like on an aircraft carrier) so maybe you could make some sort of awesome floating dock aircraft carrier where the seaplanes are sort of towed along making contact with the water or even make some kind of awesome water lift device that carries the planes from the sea into an internal hangar aboard the ship (once the wings are folded).

Looks great, dude. What gun is it? I know it's not, but it looks kinda like an older version of an MP7 or perhaps some Korean/Chinese knockoff of an MP7.
I'm trying to do a bunch of hand painted stuff so I can just get generally better and try to make a scene. This is only my third.

The top one looks bit bland since there's not much color variation. I like the second one better.

You'd be right about that. ;) Old screenshot of the carrier hangar I'm building:

Wait. How stupid can one be. How could the wings fold if the landing gear is ON the wings...
Need to redesign, brb.

See how hard it is not to laugh or smirk whenever the narrator says "It's starting to get hard."
