Looks great, dude. What gun is it? I know it's not, but it looks kinda like an older version of an MP7 or perhaps some Korean/Chinese knockoff of an MP7.
thanks! I started out with the mp7 and put some pm63 / mac10 / magpul lookin handguard in there for good measure
I've lurked here long enough I think, so here's me saying hi.
I'll try to post something some time but right now I'm making the transition from Blender to 3DS Max which, as you can imagine, is rather difficult. Much more dynamic program though, I love it so far. :v:
EDIT:
I'm not that good even in Blender, by the way. My main problem in any program (I've used Blender, Maya and 3DS Max now.) is that I am never able to finish a model. Either due to my standards being too high or I change my mind and I feel like modelling something else.
Surely I'm not the only one? :v:

Since somebody made a dagger and I can't come up with my own ideas right now and I was sick Friday, I made this.
It looks odd to me as the golden texture makes it look as though it's made out of bronze or brass or something, but the silhouette of the model, considering the high poly count, makes it looks like it's been crudely cut from a piece of wood.
First model I have ever finished. Ive done a bit of other stuff but this is my first thing to show. It aint great, but I'm happy how it came out.

You wouldn't really see it that close if it were in a game.
No, I know, but with the poly count you could easily change the shape without changing adding or subtracting any polygons and it would, in my opinion, suit the handle better. I'm just being pedantic, of course, it really does look great. The golden-ish one in particular; almost look photo-realistic.

Its fine, the handle is low poly because more often than not, in a game, the character would be holding it. No point adding unneeded polygons.
I started a game design course last month, and I am really enjoying the 3D modelling with 3ds Max, which despite the class being very basic, I've managed to learn quite well.
So queue tonight, combine a little boredom and a wish to put a little pizzaz in my scene, and I really start to get on a roll, I'm learning through experimentation, messing with materials, cloth physics and lighting mostly, with aim to add/learn some particle effects. So everything is going great, my scene is really shaping up, so I decide to save before I lose it. I click save. "3ds Max has encountered an error and needs to close, your save may be corrupt, do you wish to make a recovery save?", yes, enter a new filename, "Save may be corrupt, do you wish to make a recovery save?", try it a few more times, then give up, click no and let it close. Boot 3ds Max back up, all copies of my scene are corrupt. Luckily I have a backup but damn that was annoying.
Time to read some tutorials and just check something...

Better than that, dare I say.

Ah, my bad. Bad reading on my part.

WIP on a grenade launcher that shoots balls of pure science fiction. Glowy bar will fill end-to-end to represent firing times, once I figure out animated textures.
Looks like the Loch-n-Load from TF2. or the grenade launcher the Loch-n-Load was based off of.
can anyone tell me the best way to unwrap something like this:

Maybe something like this:

I know I always seem to be just messing around with physics simulations, but I'm learning how to model now! I have a problem with Rayfire though.
I've modeled this simple thing and attempted to smash it. It will bounce around fine but as soon as I try to fragment it, it goes tits up.

Through trial and error I've discovered that this error only happens when turbosmooth is applied. Still haven't fixed it though.. Help!
Hey fp, long time no see.
Made this cool ass fridge for turbosquid and I am rendering some shots. How does it look?

Damnit fp, I need to work on my modelling skills though. Do you have any good NURBS modelling tutorials in mind? Thanks
The corners all look like they've got anomalies around them.

I dont get what you mean, perhaps it's the hdri's fault?

oh ok I get what the problem is, thanks

What was the name of the site, on which you would upload two pictures and it would let you compare them.(like split screen compare etc) It was used at the Screenshots and Movies about a year ago.
New one: http://gyazo.com/768e9fdced6dbd38b2e5ac7ecad98b52.png?1349623190 , http://gyazo.com/0c0760f35d65a5ff32f381863ff9daa1.png?1349624524
Oh god someone on polycount just made me crack up a bit.

You need a real good hdri for some sexy reflections
How do you guys get so good at 3ds max? any tutorials out there?

We just get good.
We go out and get good.
We just get it.

It's in our genes.
Behold, my very first character model! \:v:/

Made it in about 3 hours, I'm learning how to use Unity so i wanted a test character model that would be easy to make.
(made without schematics mind you, I've never tried that before)
