Why don't you post some?
I have a project in physics coming up soon and I want to make some 3D animations to better explain the design of a concept car. I haven't done any actual 3D modeling before but I did make a couple things in autoCAD in Engineering. I want to do some very very basic animations with very basic models in Blender but I just can't figure it out. I'm trying to find tutorials for it but nothing covers the basic stuff I used to be able to do with autoCAD.
What I need is something like this:
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/1OgJY.png[/img_thumb]
The idea is four wheels each with independent suspension and their own motors, and when the car is hit, the suspension helps roll the car in a kind of uppercut. It should first push the momentum away from the cabin and then keep the car from rolling onto its side. If you can't visualize that, I don't blame you, that's what I need the animation for.
If someone is willing to go beyond just this, I'd also be grateful for help in animating two other parts of the car, but it's a lot to ask for. If you'd like to help, we should take it to private messages or somewhere else, because it might get a little bit more involved.
A lot of work like this requires either monetary payment, or, in the case of budding artists, rights to the piece and the ability to include it in their portfolio.
Since you're a client, you'd probably have the former. Still, I'm willing to bet you'll find someone here who can do it for you.

Just did. When did you?

I was thinking more like pointing me towards a decent tutorial for it or just a five-second five-poly mockup of it I could learn from. If you know any good Blender tutorials on stuff like this, could you link them here?

Well, Blendercookie is a great place to start. They cover the basics of modeling and animation, so you'll probably find your answers there.
My God... That's a massive silencer for such a tiny gun.

Looks really fucking good!
They all look very good but I'd lose the DOF or at least tone it down on the tank though, it makes it look like a toy.

Since I've got 17 slum buildings modeled I figured I could take a break and make some low-poly versions for the scenes background, I want city as far as the eye can see, rolling hills of slums and this is the key.
Took it from 2,000+ poly with full interior to 36 polygons and a 1024x1024 texture map. Really happy, they will look great.
I'm sorry... Thirty-six polygons?
Explain this witchcraft, because I see a tube. And that alone is more than 36 polygons.

I was wondering that myself... look in the background. :v:
yo ajacks when are you gonna go back to the NYC set?

that's the end of that

Damn you're good. That's all I can say.
You guys should check out the leaked Doom 4 stuff. There's a lot of pictures of the high-poly assets they use for normal maps in the game, like ruined walls and whatnot.
If you enjoy looking at those sorts of things at least.
I am working on a building for Outerra, to import it. I am about to texture it but here is what I have so far.
836 poly.

These curves are a BITCH to unwrap.
planar map to separate them into halves
done

also why not use floating geo to save polys?

???
I do not know why I did not think of that. I haven't modeled in some time so I guess that just slipped my mind. Thank you.
I liked your design more, I just went ahead ad re-did mine. Thank you good sir.

I really love these. What renderer you using?
Edit; Ah, marmoset. Sexy.

did you leave those edges as pointed? i really liked that it had a sharp edge that defined the two halves of each building
I've just picked up Maya, however I have been using blender for the past 5 years.
So how the fuck do I make loop cuts in Maya? I found a slice tool but I can't seem to work out how to make it lock straight and its all guess work. And Subdivision isn't an option since I want more loop cuts, not to divide the mesh.
For those of you that know in Blender it's Ctrl-R for Loop cuts, does Maya even have something similar? Also how can I make faces from Verts, I.e. in Blender Select 3 to 4 Verts and hit 'F' Again what is this in Maya?
