unless you're doing high poly, they probably could be done in the texture.
with some normals possibly
Oh yeah, I know. Just doing it for fun and the challenge, mostly.

It's quite nice but my only big problem is with the colors, green and red don't go very well together.
Okay I got my problem with Rayfire + Turbosmooth fixed. Isoline Display fucks it up.
Can someone care to explain how to use layers in Rayfire? The guide on the website doesn't say much about layers.

It just automatically adds a new layer when you do a new operation, like fragmenting.

Now for the hard part..
Your edges are far too hard. You can barely tell it's a high poly.

To be honest I quite like them like this, Looks realistic.

better? http://gyazo.com/8159fc72e1b7a27bcd31bac02d5afaa3.png?1350056554
I fixed the outer edges, as for the other edges I believe they are pretty close to the original gamepad.

Slightly, but it's still hard to tell the edges are soft from a distance.
Slightly, but it's still hard to tell the edges are soft from a distance.
You mean the outer edges or the button holes? The button holes are not really supposed to be soft.
It's just so that it picks up the lighting a bit better when rendering. Even if the edges are harder real life.
it really only matters to have softer edges if he wants to make a game res model of it and wants to bake a normal map.
FUCK.
I can't shift + drag extrude an edge any more. I've even reinstalled max and it still won't work! Help!
you must have done something wrong, make sure you reset absolutely everything.

Did you turn on any constraints in your Editable Poly modifier? That happens a lot to me.
Don't know what it was but I got it working again. *facepalm*
I'm thinking of making a really good UDK thread in general games, should I make it there or in CC or what do u guys think?

Anybody have a good HDRI for studio style shots of electronics?
Like these sorta shots which i'm pretty sure are 3d renders anyway.

I can give you the hdri I created for the fridge render I did one-two pages ago. But it is way too simple.
[editline]13th October 2012[/editline]
and kind of shit honestly
They look like normal studio pictures, not 3d.
