I'm sorry... Thirty-six polygons?
Explain this witchcraft, because I see a tube. And that alone is more than 36 polygons.
You're looking at the right one right? The left one is the "high poly"

Ah, I see... Makes more sense now.
You're looking at the right one right? The left one is the "high poly"
i suppose its quite successful when people cant tell your high-poly from your low poly when they are right next to each other...
I thought it was one big building and only looked at the left side :v:

I count that as a victory then.
Nvidia wasn't this highlighted by polycount at one point?

Here is the textured version. It's not done yet, I have to fix the seams but in general that's about what it will be.

Love the way you did the edge highlights, looks very cool.
It just looks like it's very evenly worn.
Gonna do a 3D art contest, with prizes offered by myself. Is there any interest for such a thing? The contest will be about making a single, detailed object, not like, a huge scene or something. Should be doable, no?

I'd love that, my problem with 3D is that I rarely have my own ideas so the only way I get something done is if I'm participating in a challenge or someone asks me to make stuff :v:
Would it involve designing said object as well? Or is it purely based on the technical ability of the model, if it's a design brief I'd be really interested.
3D Art contest is up. http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1167644?p=34961655

It's a mix of both, Scotchair. Objects are judged on their design, as well as their technical quality. Depends on what people want. A system where submissions are judged, or where submissions are voted for by the community.
I just started on a SR-75 model for Outerra. Here's what I have so far:

After 7 solid hours of work, I finished it up.

Made this in class with it. Just a little idle animation which is kinda rough still.

After my (very) awful motion tracking attempt earlier I shot some much nicer footage and got a decent capture out of it.
Rebuilt the table top and added some emit planes to get some realistic window reflections happening. I'm finally beginning to get the hang of composite nodes.

Just done a LOTR marathon (extended.... obviously) and it's incredible how well the majority of the CG has aged. I can't believe that was over 10 years ago.
