does the amount of pixels like, affect how much you should take it seriously i mean, do you take 3d models seriously, all they are is pixels on the screen
what? "maybe you should take 256 pixels less seriously then" was just because the dumb rating is that many pixels. it was just to say that ratings don't really matter because they're essentially just a few pixels with no real value. i was just saying that he should lighten up a little rather than be so offended by forum ratings. i mean i can understand being unhappy that people rated his post badly, but to call it "a slap in the face" is a little extreme. [editline]25th October 2012[/editline] maybe im not understanding your post or you misunderstood mine but i was confused by yours.
No i mean people taking an obvious silly pun as an insult felt like a slap to the face. I don't like when people misunderstand me.
yes, and i'm saying it's a little extreme to feel like it's a slap in the face. you also don't know why people gave you those ratings. i mean i got the joke instantly, but didn't think it was funny. worry less about these types of things. they are inconsequential.
Its not extreme to me, and that's the end of this discussion.
Its not extreme to me, and that's the end of this discussion.
Do you mean to come off so rude all the time, or are you unaware that people think you're a bit of a dick?
edit: Wrong thread
Erm, I think you've got the wrong thread.
No i mean people taking an obvious silly pun as an insult felt like a slap to the face. I don't like when people misunderstand me.
Part of the reason I missed the joke at first and dumbed you, other than being tired, is because often when you do give criticism from what I've seen you tend to be less constructive about it and more abrasive. So it seemed to me you were just giving less constructive criticism than you usually do. It would have been a lot harder to miss the joke if you had quoted the specific render it was in regards to. And a lot of people probably didn't find it funny as mentioned above.
Not done with this yet, I plan to fiddle, but it's the start. It's for a psychology project in school.
I'm sure it's the art style but do you feed that grass depleted uranium? It's way too bright.
It would look better without that weird ground texture, it seems it's "breaking" the scene. It's taking all my attention to it, it's simply not fitting.
Not that I know anything about composition, but the harsh, brown, desaturated ground texture doesn't really go well with the soft, green grass.
Thanks for the feedback guys! I'll be back with changes.
Thanks for the feedback guys! I'll be back with changes.
Also the grass looks like it's blurry. Are the blades of grass models or planes with opacity maps, because if they're opacity maps you should trace over the edges with a sharp brush so they aren't soft looking like that.
? Image looks blurry in this, but not in the render window. wat. :downs:
Put it back it was better before. Maybe somewhere in between the two perhaps.
I know the grass looks radioactive, but I kinda like it brighter. I'm not trying for realism, more for whimsy.
Finished the claw mount for the G3 Next up: Scope
That's really pretty. How come this thread is 99% guns, it would be interesting to see you guys branch out some more, you can make amazing guns, how about a computer or car or skeleton or bike or something with a similar level of detail? Variety is important to keep things fun.
[img_thumb]http://www.niggaupload.com/images/ZfEcQ.jpg[/img_thumb]
Now with 50% more Uranium! Also did you edit in those lens flares? Or what did you use to get that in?
Now with 50% more Uranium! Also did you edit in those lens flares? Or what did you use to get that in?
Just a render effect connected to the light. I kept it subtle though.

I modeled a pirate ship a while ago and to be perfectly honest, it wasn't as fun as making a gun.

Decided to import this guy into maya and learn how to rig characters in it. I skinned him fast though, so I'll redo it later. Also, anyone know any good tutorials on making cartoon eyes in Maya?
Did you use that auto-rig button? I forgot what it's called exactly. Something bind.
Did you use that auto-rig button? I forgot what it's called exactly. Something bind.
I used that Human-IK system. Also, positioning the skeleton was a bitch because if you ctrl+z'd the whole damn thing would reset.
Just a render effect connected to the light. I kept it subtle though.
you need to completely rethink your lighting to try and give the scene a sense of depth. currently it does not look 3d. if not in the context of the thread i would have figured it was done really quickly in photoshop to be honest.
Update, added bottom walls and some new textures.
