Does anyone have any high resolution night time HDRIs? (Full moon preferred, but not required) I need it for reasons
So a high resolution picture of my ass would do?
if you have money you could try CGSkies
Well it's for some unity game thingie, you know, a "first game" kind of thing. Not going to spend money on it :v:
I need to learn Zbrush character modeling, anyone have a personal experience with, and/or a favorite tutorial for character development?
you need to completely rethink your lighting to try and give the scene a sense of depth. currently it does not look 3d. if not in the context of the thread i would have figured it was done really quickly in photoshop to be honest.
Any suggestions on ways to go about doing that?
Spamming some more progress on the trainstation. Lots of textures updated, new textures, some new models. The fences are a little derpy, I'm working on that. Is that in a game engine, and what is it for?
Yea, it's the Unreal Engine 3 (UDK). It's an environment piece for my folio.
Are there any VFX based courses in Scotland? All I've found is digital media, no actual VFX based courses. Seeing 'Life Drawing 1' in the module list kills me a little inside. I can't draw for shit.
I'm doing Computer Animation in university. I'm at The University of the West of Scotland, it's the 4th worst uni in the UK, but it does its creative courses well. Currently we're covering basic animation in flash and things, and we're moving on to Blender next week. A lot of it is really basic, but it's nice to have lab time and to work with people in the industry.
RustySpannerz;38210924'] Reminds me of the Half-Life 2 trainstation.
It IS the Half-Life 2 trainstation.
It IS the Half-Life 2 trainstation.
dun Dun DUNNNNNNNN Plot twist. I need inspiration, I can feel my modeling skills wither away from my absense. Anyone know of any good ideas/concept art that would be a good refresher to modeling and texturing perhaps?
Hahaha Vray just completely shat itself: This is not in any way remotely close to what it was supposed to be :v:

If I'm working on a map in Red Orchestra 2 would it be ok if I posted it here?

[editline]27th October 2012[/editline]
Any suggestions on ways to go about doing that?
defined shadows is the main thing that your scene is lacking.
If I'm working on a map in Red Orchestra 2 would it be ok if I posted it here?
Well since the mapping section are stuck up pricks 90% of the time, I personally don't mind, does it use custom assets? If no then I'd recommend against it.
Yeah, it's in a bump map slot set to 100 and that's how it displays in the render. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?
You need to put a 'Normal Map' shader in the bump map slot, and then your normal map into the Normal Map shader. The bump map wants black and white data, so you need that step in between.
I need to learn Zbrush character modeling, anyone have a personal experience with, and/or a favorite tutorial for character development?
This tutorial was a great help to me: http://eat3d.com/zbrush4_character It doesn't take you through the basics of ZBrush, you're required to know how to use the program, but it does go in-depth into pretty much all aspects of creating a complete character in ZBrush from an idea to retopo to rendering.
defined shadows is the main thing that your scene is lacking.
Oh wow. Whoops, I had it set to not cast shadows from the light.

Kind of like what Ballistics had. [editline]28th October 2012[/editline] A very fat hover bike
The blades of grass look too blurry for my taste.
I don't really know how to sharpen them other than widening the ends. I'll try that and see how it looks.
How are you doing them? What program?
Can anybody explain to me why the only time normal maps look proper in 3dsmax is when they've been generated by the program?
How are you doing them? What program?
Who, me?
