This seems like the best place to ask this: I have a Core 2 Quad 2.4 GHz CPU and a ATI HD 5770 in my PC, what would be better to upgrade if I want to focus more on making render times better? Is rendering usually more CPU or GPU dependent?
CPU, unless you're certain you're only going to be using a GPU accelerated renderer.
Meanwhile, Logithx tries to spawn a static mesh through script.

You could also turn up the friction to tone the general movement down a bit.
Perhaps someone here will know. I have an odd issue in 3DS Max. I built a character and whatnot, rigged him using CAT, but when I try to animate him, I can't add any keys. Using auto-key or set-key mode won't work. It just refuses to make keys for any of the controlling objects in the CAT rig. When I just make a box and animate it to go up it adds keys just fine.
That happens to me every once in a while, but it just randomly starts working again for me.
I managed to fix it in the end. I deleted the animation layer and created a new one, then went into animation mode or whatever that's called in the Motion tab.

Then try to use Auto Key. If you want to go back to character creation mode, just hit the play butten so it turns into a stop button. Edit Damnit, I was too slow..

You can also have more then one animation layer if you want to animate more animations on your character, such as an animation package for UDK or whatever, but only one animation layer can be active. And you toggle them with the stop/play button.

it's like math humour but i actually get it
Some renders i did on my spare time. Blender 2.64a and Cycles only (always at 200 passes - 1920x1080 - GPU render and additional Post Processing Node stuff) They were done for a "15 Minute Modelling Blender Game", means everything you see was modelled and prepared for rendering in less than 15 minutes (Rendering time not included, goes from 1 to 4 minutes) Some barrels modelled with Subsurf. BG from my friend Juju, Earth Textures from a tutorial on blenderguru.com (I used it to simulate atmosphere effect), the rest by me. You can either use the presets or make your own.
