Well, I'm trying to get myself back into 3d, so I made a simple little model. It was more rendering than modeling. There's still some noise I couldn't figure out how to remove, but I'm pleased with it as a whole. I rarely see natural environment renders let alone good ones. Is it that modeling programs are inconvenient for that sort of stuff?
I rarely see natural environment renders let alone good ones. Also when it comes to product models, the natural environment for them is often a photoshoot setup with backdrop and all that. But yes, they are rarely seen here at least. Would be cool to see more of those
Because trees and plants are a fucking nightmare to produce.
It's possible though
It's possible though
with vray and 1,500 USD, yes.
More like with Vray and 1.5 million USD for a renderfarm
Bear in mind it's a very heavy WIP. Rough shapes and such. Any suggestions?
reminds me of shadow moses but maybe i'm just obsessive
More like with Vray and 1.5 million USD for a renderfarm
Or for free with Blender and Cycles. [t]http://www.abload.de/img/showx7ult.jpeg[/t][t]http://www.abload.de/img/show1tu9j.jpeg[/t] (Images by Agus3D) It's not an animation but has over 19 billion polygons and 1 frame takes less than 2min with two GTX460 @1080p.
WHAT [editline]29th January 2013[/editline] That's pretty amazing :v:
ugh that water shader...
Teach me master.
Teach me master.
You can click the link and download the blend file. I can't really teach you something about it but read the blenderartis thread in the link.
You can click the link and download the blend file. I can't really teach you something about it but read the blenderartis thread in the link.
Yes master.
Does anyone know of any photo albums consisting of modern buildings being destroyed? Or perhaps older buildings that have been subject to decay over time?
Does anyone know of any photo albums consisting of modern buildings being destroyed? Or perhaps older buildings that have been subject to decay over time?
There is a ton of destroyed stuff here: http://www.reddit.com/r/destructionporn Might be worth browsing.
reminds me of shadow moses but maybe i'm just obsessive
That was actually why I wanted to model something similar. I just finished replaying MGS4. I finished the game again and doing the part of Shadow Moses made me really want model something like it. Bonus points for making such a vague connection.
Can someone show me how to properly make a hole like the one in this picture?

except shoot for your support loops to all be evenly spaced. you want the smoothed version to look pro [editline]29th January 2013[/editline] also if you were just gonna show a picture why ask what program? it's jus a goddamn model there aint no difference
Haha yeah, and he asking how to make it, a picture of another hole is just gonna get him nowhere.
Hello, I'm the new guy, but I thought I'd contribute something too. Software: 3D Studio Max + Vray if I remember right XD Mudbox - still too symmetrical and too perfectish, I'm working Gamedev [V.I.P] - 3D Studio Max - one rock segment made in about 15 minutes - God I love procedural textures. Architectural - 3D Studio Max + IRay. Yes, I know about the "door and wall-lamp" issue. That's all for now. Cheers.
All hail our new overlord
I hate it when someone good comes into the thread and just makes us all feel like peasants :v:
I hate it when someone good comes into the thread and just makes us all feel like peasants :v:
It could be worse. I can barely even model.
It could be worse. I only know how to model in Solidworks.
It could be worse. I can barely even model.
Well, me too. Don't be so pessimistic, guys. More: Just a quick render of these 15 minutes rocks - it's a level from the original Unreal - NyLeve Falls, if enyone recalls. InGame usage of these rocks - still Unreal'99 as it is my favorite engine. A high res render of the cliff above. Quick scuba gear goggles overlay - PS. Heavy VIP sculpt of S-F suit - never had time to finish it, kind a pity. An old architectural project I did for my sis' employers. If you've ever read The Painted Man by Peter Brett (I think) you should recognize these. BTW, I had an idea of creating a set of tuts how to quickly 'do' things in 3D Studio Max. Thing is, I have no idea how many people would really appreciate this. That maybe later. PS: Pardon my Gibberish, it's not my native language.
