I like the style but it really needs some more clothing details. Stuff like fabric folds and details like that.
Can anyone suggest a place I can get royalty free building models?
Even crazy futuristic ones.
Hell if anyone has any of their own that would be cool too.

Can I ask why you want them?

:D it's my first normal and specular map, and my first real attempt at a realistic texture.
tbh, it's mostly just a normal map test but i figured id learn a few tricks with the metal texturing

There's something wrong with the tip of the sword/knife, maybe inverted normals?

Making this futuristic London skyline animation for a program. I know I'm going to struggle making cool looking buildings.
It would help if they were 3D cos then I can play around with them and light them properly.

You should really use references. I see in a lot of your work you have weird proportions that make your models look silly. Even if you aren't using the reference exactly, look at what you're making and similar objects and take reference from multiple images if you need to.

yeah my friend said it looked wonky, gave me a quick paintover, it does look wonky, but it was mostly a test, i didn't really put THAT much effort into the model. that said, i did use a reference, but i didnt use it exactly apparantly
I made a shark using Maya and Zbrush (New to zbrush)

Please excuse the bad edges, I haven't fully figured out rendering and exporting in Zbrush yet.

When you render in BPR, go into document>export, as the document tab represents 2/2.5D data whereas tools represent 3D data. Just a tip. That's a very nice shark BTW

Also I recommend you look up Ryan Kingslien's youtube channel, as he teaches how to use tools that eliminate the need for creating a base mesh in other programs. [url]http://www.youtube.com/user/rkingslien?feature=watch[/url]
Shitty AOs of heavy WIPs. The scene is mostly just a mock-up to see what kind of placement I want, and it'll definitely be a lot closer in whenever I do a final. (Plus it needs more coins, coins that don't look like turd.)

I love pirate stuff
Would anyone be interested in themed contests here?
Just throwing out an idea
No matter how awful I am, I'm in
Cause its been a problem for me and probably countless others here that they have no inspiration and nothing to do.
If no one else wants to, i could probably set one up in 3-4 weeks time.
(quite the busy guy this month)
There's been modeling contests both here and in models/skins more or less frequently. We used to host the first ones with Jaanus in 2006 or 2007 or something. I think it's a good idea. :)

I remember those contests, there were some really good works. It was just bad because I didn't know how to model a single box, so I couldn't participate.
But now I think I'm able to try some contests.
maybe we can gather in some small prizes to make it worth a while.
I can throw in some crap from my games inventory.

A million DOTA 2 keys
[editline]26th February 2013[/editline]
Seriously though I have some Killing Floor DLC, Killing Floor, The Witcher, Men of War Vietnam, some Serious Sam classics and one HD remix, Bad Rats.
And a steam mobile invite.
Pirates? A theme where I'd specifically suck at every aspect of it? count me in :)
We could also send the winner to Garry v:v:v
[editline]26th February 2013[/editline]
Fuck why don't we involve those creative work sum' bitches as well and have sort of duel-off.
yeah 3d vs 2d
we'll totally win we got an extra d :)
People love getting extra D.
3DD, gaaaaaah. ;P
our superior D power will win us the contest for sure
[QUOTE=ZombieDawgs;39727417]People love getting extra D.[/QUOTE]
Double D!
I'd definitely be in for the contest assuming I can manage my time.
so if nobody else makes one before i come back from this one trip ive planned, then prepare your body for a 3d contest.
[editline]27th February 2013[/editline]
also dont be afraid to make one even though i brought up the idea, cause i kinda wanna enter too, and entering my own wouldnt be the same :)
Any ideas for the contest then?
Model your own bed? That'd be kind of cool.
