I'd like to see some nice textural details added to the green bit. Woodgrain, plastic swirl, scratches, grippy bits, etc. You might have to unwrap the UVs to get something easy to paint up. Good Luck Mark
I realise you're all probably sick of seeing this Rifle, but I really want some feedback to get the best quality I can get in terms of textures and normals. These were rendered using metal ray and I'm happy with how the models looking but, and I'm not sure if it's because I've been staring at it all day or not, I still feel it's missing something. I just want to call it done really, and move onto my next project.

I finally created my first, fully rigged model with IK bone setups in the legs. I feel proud of myself.
I love the Art Deco aesthetic.

It looks like the scale might be off relative to your 3d model scope and this one. It looks like you should make your scope considerably bigger on your model. Or perhaps the proportions between the trigger guard and the bipod mount might be a bit long too. Best Mark
Yeah, I had trouble finding an effective way of doing it. This is the reference and I was trying to achieve that kind of grain look it has:
Moving on to the second week of the nature academy, rocks! [img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/44918480/Portfolio/render_rocks_1_postprocess.png[/img_thumb] I think I overdid the depth of field, anyways it isn't final, tell me what you think.
I figured out how to use a cloth modifier to simulate hair. Really simple but I'm happy to figure that out.

Really simple but I'm happy to figure that out.
You silly you. :v: You can't simulate hair by modeling each strand and then turning them into cloth. I'd suggest looking at the hair&fur modifier or hair farm plugin.
Oh, I hadn't planned on doing it for every single strand. That would've been way too much work. I was thinking using it for sections of hair rather. I am looking into the hair and fur modifier though which I'm having better luck with than the last time I attempted to use it. [editline]19th March 2012[/editline] I think I've got the hair and fur modifier down reasonably well. [t]http://i.imgur.com/cJlYX.png[/t] Obviously nothing impressive, but it seems I've learned multiple things today which is good.
i feel like i really need to get back to work on my 3d pieces. gotta get a job for the summer!
Apparently I'm a dick for saying what everyone else said but in a short sentence. That's nice.
nope m8 it's because you were being a fucking idiot about it and this isnt even flaming this is legit read up: he didn't understand your really vague post so he asked for elaboration, pretty nicely too, so you tell him his work looks like shit and then get defensive over it. just saying some shit like "texture detail isn't consistent" means nothing not even to a veteran 3d artist.

Used my newly found rock skills to improve on the grass field and replaced the "prefab" rocks I was using on the background as well while I was at it: [img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/44918480/Portfolio/render_4.png[/img_thumb]

Free Student versions available here: http://students.autodesk.com/ Free Autodesk software for unemployed folks here: http://students.autodesk.com/?nd=assistance_landing It's always the latest version that is available for free and last time I checked they were 3 year licenses so enjoy and learn up. Best mark
There's still a popup in Max 2012 if you save a file at home with student version and open it with a school educational license.

Damn blender compositor made the smaller branches slightly see-through but I kinda like the fantasy feeling it gave to the tree: [img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/44918480/Portfolio/render_5.png[/img_thumb]
