pretty sweet design, but you might want to make the grip more rounded.
Thats actually the way the Blueprint suggests it, but I also thought of making it a bit more rounded :)
Another Update:

That gun is looking good man :D Keep up the good work
i can't work out what's going on with the raised part of the lower section of the stock. it's angled oddly. i can't tell from these shots though. probs need to see the wire
Bit of a request: Does any one know where i can download a free syringe model? I was looking into trying a few medical animations just as practice. I will model my own if needs be but i really wanted to just focus on animation.
Thanks in advance :)
Thanks for the appreciation, that's my motivation to keep going at 1:12 AM :P ...
Haha don't ask for the wire... you'll only end up cringing ... the polys are bad ... i guess really bad, but I only just figured out how to avoid serious issues :/ ...
I guess I know what you mean, the part of the stock is segmented into two thicknesses and is tapered inward as it goes down. Looks rather weird from the angles
[editline]27th April 2012[/editline]
Fixed the Stock now!
Found out i had LOADS of messed up Vertices and polys all over :v:
That's where I started off...
Rendering now :v:
hurry up and post so i can go to bed ;)

pew pew :suicide:
[editline]27th April 2012[/editline]
Everything is straight now :)
Loving it :D
Great work :P
Will speak again soon im sure (Finally going to bed after 36 hours of being up lmao)
Will continue a little, hands are becoming shaky now :< ...
Good night ;)
[editline]28th April 2012[/editline]
For now,I leave you with this last sexy render :v: added some details, cleaned up a fes polys, added mag and "secondary barrel thingy" :v:

The handle thingy looks kind of malformed. It looks uncomfortable to hold.
It's been a while since I posted an update, so here goes:

Awesome work!
I feel demotivated though :v:
About the handle: I will change it after I'm outta bed, problem with blender is the missing ability to use smooth groups... And if there is, I haven't found out yet :/
[editline]28th April 2012[/editline]
Nvm, google really is your friend ... Getting outta bed now and gonna continue working on it
[editline]28th April 2012[/editline]
Update on the Grip. I guess that's a lot better now :v:
Also started adding smooting :quagmire:

I guess this is as far as I'll go on this one...

Any suggestions what I could model next ?

Try texturing the rifle for practice, it would also look better. Just some wear and tear. As for what to model next, try random props around your house that would be interesting or fun to try.
Jesus fucking christ... How?
Tire is simple enough, but what I want to know about is the Transformer head or whatever the fuck that is. Topology on that is masturbation worthy.

Thanks! I use 3ds Max for all my models.
@ Fan-Fanatic
Looking good, just model whatever comes to mind. It might help looking for concept art online and just using that as a reference. You might want to look into subdivision modeling so you can create more complex shapes.
Can someone suggest some good beginner tutorials for things like plane modelling? I dabbled before but I had bad habits like turbo smoothing stuff and i'd rather start out proper this time around.
If i only were as fluent in 3ds Max as I was in blender :/
I got the Student download yesterday, opened it and was like:
Wtf am I doing here ?
:(

Do some tutorials and you'll pick it right up.. I went from c4d to 3dsmax and it got used to it pretty fast.

Yeah but C4D doesn't have a clusterfuck ui, blender does.

I tried Blender on a couple different occasions and really couldn't figure anything out in it. 3ds seems a lot easier to learn to me once you get into it.

I still prefer Blender for poly modeling, the truth is Blender has a really steep learning curve (most of it being memorizing hotkeys) but once you get the hang of it you manage to do stuff much faster than any other program, of course for more complex stuff you still need 3ds Max or Maya unless you plan on spending a few hours going the "long way" in Blender, there are also a lot of "less popular" features in Blender that most people don't know about and use as an excuse to give it up.
I tried to get into 3ds Max and Maya and just couldn't figure out the 3D concepts around most stuff, then I tried Blender and although difficult it was somehow easier to learn for me, once I got really good with it and understood most of the concepts it was much easier for me to move onto any other 3d program.
Lately the only thing turning me down on Blender was the lack of Bevel (it was available as a Modifier but not as a poly modeling tool) and Bridge, which were introduced in the latest version released yesterday, along with N-Gons and a better Knife tool.

Actually, I love the UI. I'm guessing you still have animosity from it due to the long-gone 2.4 UI. And once you learn the hotkeys, it's lightning fast to work with. I prefer it over 3DS. (Not for everything, but most things such as the actual modelling process).

Yes, it has a steeper learning curve. The 2.5/2.6 UI greatly reduced that curve from 2.4, however. The hotkeys are great.

I'd love to see this textured before you start anything else.

Yeah, but to be fair I don't really fancy learning hotkeys. I prefer just using the mouse, as for me I generally know exactly where things are so I can just quickly click on them instead of trying to remember hotkeys.
I still prefer max, it has everything you need exactly where you need it.

I can't imagine working without my custom hotkeys. Surely the simplest tasks take you ages?

But that's super slow.
