Cycles is still in development and doesn't have a Halo material at the moment.
which I find very annoying, cant do any lightsaber stuff :(
Cycles is still in development and doesn't have a Halo material at the moment.
Ah damn, I'm rendering an animation of my scene, I might use After Effects to add in the lighting effects when everything is rendered. Oh yeah that brings me on to another point, the image render in Cycles seems to have a rendering range, where if anything is outside of it it won't render, but it's fine in the render preview. Any way to fix this?

So I decided to do something fun today, see anything new? MRAP rolling in! Really happy with it, gives the arab scenes a whole new life with the vehicles.
So Here's some shit I modeled today for the third week of my intro to modeling class. Everyone else in my class can't model for shit so it makes me happy but then I come on here and I'm like aw damn I don't know if I'll ever be able to make the shit these guys make, their shit is so cool.

You'll get there! What school to you go to by the way? Uni I assume? Is it any good?
Central Piedmont Community College [editline]11th February 2012[/editline] It kinda sucks but it got me autodesk 3ds max for free* *free as in $250 for tuition
Just keep at it, and don't give up. And watch plenty of tutorials, because it seems like there's always some new shortcut or a faster/better way of doing things for you to learn. And you're off to a pretty good start.
Here's a poop I'm doing atm
Thanks man, and that glare node (didn't know it existed, silly me) might actually be useful too.
In blender you could hardly live without glare. As long as you don't overdo it it can add a lot to renders with bright areas. This was a little test I did when trying to learn cycles. The glow is made with the glare node. Just testing the p3d thing: http://p3d.in/XXv7x
You've got an ngon on the trigger guard (that isn't being rendered properly on that site) and the area around the grip, on the top, seems to be all wrong. It's too wide, it's not rounded like the rest and looks incredibly uncomfortable to hold. Other than that, it looks pretty good. I particularly like the scope, it looks great.
Made a 700 000 poly sculpt which resulted in a 96 poly gamemodel. Who could manage without normalmaps...
I went from 1.2 million to 20 triangles in an earlier model. I love normalmaps.
That one ring render is badass... I'm a massive lotr fan. My mate got me a real one for my 21st, took a photo of it. I don't like the ship material but it took too damn long to render for me to re-do it. Also: I made this on my phone and shitty laptop using a remote desktop viewing program (so I could hardly see my main computer). 5760x1200 [t]http://i.cubeupload.com/1lDbGK.jpg[/t]
it could be really great with more intricate ship. right now it just looks so weird with that awkward texturing
Technical test. Using textures, particles and composite nodes to create an ash/ember effect in Blender. Still figuring out how the Texture system works. Currently rendering at 800 frame shot with the rest of the lower-quality background particles. I'm planning to composite the effect into a filmed scene once I get motion-tracking figured out. [editline]13th February 2012[/editline] It'd be neat to have the ember start to break apart. I can probably achieve that by altering the alpha map and adding some black/soot-like particles [editline]13th February 2012[/editline]
it could be really great with more intricate ship. right now it just looks so weird with that awkward texturing
C- on the new avatar could not enjoy
rude
rude
what's rude is a big ol' zebra looking at me like I owe him something

I need an adult
I need an adult
It looks like a perfectly fine adult zebra to me :v:
Alright, I know this isn't directly related to 3D art, but I need it to finish something I'm doing. It's a website that turns a picture into a bunch of circles, and the circles divide when moused over. Anyone have any idea what that is?

[EDITLINE].[/EDITLINE] Sorry, can't find it in my StumbleUpon favorites either...
Alright, so now I know I'm not insane... And I REALLY need the name of the site. This is going to be more difficult than anticipated.
this is a snip
