Question for 3Ds max while making a huge scene:
How would I store the materials?
I suppose I have to make all the materials into a Multi/Sub-Object and give them a bunch sub materials?
Once I move out, I plan on making my new place in 3D, which would require a lot of materials I'd say.
I can render in Marmoset but still can't figure out spec maps 3DSmax :(
fake lens flare and faggy watermark ahoooy

I did this for the final in my 3ds Max class. It could use some animation tweaking here and there but I don't seem to care for it anymore.
Anywho, here it is.

Your textures are a bit creepy but that grass actually looks kinda awesome.

By creepy textures do you mean on the angry birds, the set, or generally everything? The angry birds might look weird because they're cell shaded.

I think the combination of an AO bake and the cell shading made it look a bit....odd.

I didn't have any AO in it but I think I know what you're talking about, that little darker area on the bottom side of the birds right?

The shading on the wings, the beak, and the top fin thing. Looks kinda out of place.
I want one.

I think it's just that the texture resolution is nowhere near high enough for how much detail you're showing. Cartoons generally work by vector so they don't have the soft edges on the textures like you do because they're stretched too far or perhaps you created the textures soft anyway. Basically everything is hard edged except the textures on the birds and it just looks a bit odd.

Don't worry, it will get blended with UDK sooner or later.

Looks nice, but the Ratatouille music was a bit unfitting. Slightly too fast for what's going on in the animation. It only really fit at the end.

Bought a tablet, got some brushes, but unfortunately they're just not as nice as the one in this. Anybody got any good ones?

Baked the normals, and baked AO. I've learned that waveyness in the normal map is something that can be fixed in Photoshop, provided it isn't too insanely visible/huge. This normal map still sucks though. Next time, I'm shoving my normal map into a new UV set where everything is neatly divided along the seams and such.
