pls bevel pls [editline]17th June 2012[/editline] also I think i screwed up the holes big time [editline]17th June 2012[/editline] also my mom designed this one
Holy. Shit.
There is a problem with that turret. It doesn't have any sort of motor to aim itself. Also the two legs should be on the back because it looks like it would tip over. Also the part where it connects looks like it'd break the second it shoots.

Yeah but I think the person would like it better if he rotated the stand, thickened up the rod a bit and added two buttons and a small dial to that box which appears to be a motor. At least if he asked him first. He'd almost surely approve of those minor tweaks.
Yeah but I think the person would like it better if he rotated the stand, thickened up the rod a bit and added two buttons and a small dial to that box which appears to be a motor.
As someone mentioned earlier, it's some one else's design, so I'm keeping it. I might rotate the stand 180 for a different version, I agree the front legs should be on the back. But the motors spin here and here, do they not? I think you're vastly over-estimating the recoil. The giant barrel is a suppressor, and the rounds would likely be 30 cal (according to my interpretation, anyways). I'd assume it's so big to fit a bunch of electronics inside. I'll thicken up the rod, though. It does appear a bit thin. Here's a 30 cal MG firing, and as you can see, it doesn't have much of a kick at all. It's just that those spots seem a little small to fit a motor and battery to last for very long that's all.
Hey i'm making shoes and this is crazy but i need some help with my shoe laceys I thought about splines but then I realized that while to some it looks fine the laces should be flat thanks in advance and, by the way next i might make pants what do you say?
You could just use planes.. Model with planes, then use a shell modifier, and then turbosmooth it :) You could also use splines as reference :)
also my mom designed this one
I would wear those. Hawt.
i have a problem. when i smooth it the texture gets funny the only way i can think of fixing it would be to smooth it and then uv it, but then i'd have to have a texture for the low poly and a texture for the hi poly which i dont want to do.. any solutions?

Can't remember how I fixed it, though. Sorry :( [editline].[/editline] Opened up my model, and it seems like I just added more geometry before smoothing.
If you're trying to UV geometry that you're going to smooth, UV it when it's smoothed to one level. I believe that fixes the worst of the stretching.

Decided to do some photoshopping on my own for once.
You could just use planes.. Dunno if Max has anything like that, but for example you could have the curve, fit a plane to it, then add loop cuts to the plane.
why would you texture both like that? makes no sense
I don't even know what you're trying to say. Both what? Lke what? Are you saying that you can have turbosmoothed UV maps while the model will still be regular?

So, this is the first model I've made where I didn't run in to weird topology issues and double verts everywhere. [img_thumb]http://puu.sh/BhaB[/img_thumb] Not very impressive or anything, but it's a start.

Everything good comes with due time.
[t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/22565769/wip6.png[/t] Got the base textures done. Time to detail and what not.
i have no idea what i am doing

I decided to just tuck in the laces and say screw you to the knot (still a wip)
Which modifier is that? Looks really good.

Haven't tried it in, but I suppose it would work
Which modifier is that? Looks really good.
Flat plane and lots of patience. [editline]18th June 2012[/editline] Okay, I'm 99% sure that the modeling is done, 95% pleased with the materials. I think it seems slightly off. I'm going to take a break from this shoe for a few days I'm getting sick of it.

damn that looks amazing :D
ideally you would have modeled the stitching and the bump looks strange and fake to me. doesnt look like a leather material imo
