Don't mind the grainy bodylines on the side views, I had mipmapping off in the viewport because it messed up the whole texture.
Materials is 100% illuminated

I did my first model, it's the Pryocitor from the first Ratchet and Clank. However I was strictly following my brother's instructions of what to do, so I barely can have any credit. Still, I'm pretty proud of it despite its lack of detail. It looks very TF2-inspired, but I was trying to follow the original weapon as closely as possible, it must be the texturing that makes it look so TF2-y.

And a gif because why not?

Rated artistic because it looks fairly spot on, and because I fucking love the Ratchet and Clank series.

Looks extremely well made :)
That car looks great. Your low-poly work and texture quality is excellent. I suggest doing a dirty version as well, or additional colours. It could sell on Turbosquid.
how does one make a GIF like that?
Low poly geometry and high res texture, HNNG.
looks low res to me.
Can you guys recommend some simple tutorials for rendering models to look attractive for presentation purposes? Doesn't have to be anything fancy, just something that's a step up from viewport screenshots.

For Maya.

Render it with a flat diffuse of something gray or beige. Us three point lighting with 2 of the lights being slightly warm (orangeish) and one being cool (light blue grayish) and put it on an L shaped plane with a slightly gray diffuse colour.

Photoshop can export sequences as GIFs as far as I know.
So despite having been modeling for almost a year, this is the first model I've compiled for Source :v:

Quinnjdq had to yell at me and do the UV himself and I rushed the texture.

I'm sorry but that's poop...
I've been lurking this thread quite a while now and I have to say, that the stuff you guys make is pretty awesome. So, I finally decided to post something too.

My first proper model (by that, I mean my first model that I've properly UV'd and textured) I made after watching a video tutorial about subdivision modeling. Right now I'm working on my second model; a sniper rifle.
Metal could have a bit more shiney shiney, but other then that it's looking hot :3

Glad you stopped lurking. That model looks fantastic.

Could we see a wireframe? That looks amazing!

Please tell me you were already a god level texturer before this because if this is your first model, I'm about to just pack it in.
Could anyone recommend a site with loads of reference pictures of firearms. I had one with huge amounts of images, but it has disappeared.

Could you post the tutorial link? :v:
Also, I'm currently designing a sword. Going to paint it "realistically" and model it and finally put in Skyrim. This is some early line art what do you guys think? Very WIP.
I want this to be a full project, from concept sketches to an ingame finished item.

Not exactly the prettiest thing, but the normal map makes up for it.

Nah, I'm not that great at texturing. It's mostly the lighting and specular that makes it look good. Also, it's not my very first model. It's just my first model that I've properly UV'd and textured.

It's not just tips on rendering, I literally have no idea how to render using Maya. I've never rendered something in my life.
