I think I'm far enough away to survive the blast. But the dark skies and debris would be a real pain in the ash.
Oh, they're always going on about it. Since there's literally nothing we can do to prevent or prepare for what would ultimately mean the end of civilisation, why bother worrying about it? Just pretend it's not going to happen.
Wouldn't be the end of civilisation but it would be a few decades of smog and unless we provide light most plant life would die.
To the bunkers!
I seriously doubt that it will go off this year...
2012 however.. :pseudo:
I can offer you Volcano insurance
In exchange for $5 now, I'll keep hold of your worldly possessions, and if Yellowstone goes off and you survive, I'll have them ready for you!
Its not going to go off. If it does I doubt it will really be that bad, but you never know. From the predictions about it if it does go off we will all be fucked. So we can't really prepare, so just enjoy life while you can.
I hope it does, so my life can be fallout 3, except with less radiation.
If it goes off in 2012, I will then say that the idiots who thought 2012 would happen are correct.
Only america is doomed :smug:
Wouldn't be the end of civilisation but it would be a few decades of smog and unless we provide light most plant life would die.
America would explode, most international trade links would have to be severed, serviced based economies would have to rapidly revert back to making their own stuff (which would not be easy in any way, shape or form) and I don't see how you could possibly supply enough light to keep all the plants alive, or even enough to sustain half the population. And that's assuming power plants don't get damaged, people don't stop mining fossil fuels etc. etc.
Essentially, it would mean a return to the stone ages for most people, except everything's dark and the air burns your lungs. The last time something like this happened, the human population was apparently reduced down to 10,000 - 1000 people. And those were all people who knew how to hunt for food and what berries were ok to eat in a world where there weren't toxic waste dumps and nuclear power plants ready to go sky high, where the population of wild animals and plants were vastly greater and where people weren't so molly-coddled by modern society that seeing their best friend die and having to consider eating the body wouldn't send them into the deepest darkest depression.
So yeah, let's just assume it won't happen.
don't worry europe will too :haw:
:ohdear:
What about Thailand or Japan can I flee to my relations there in case
I hope it does, so my life can be fallout 3, except with less radiation.
agree :smug:
Am I the only one that knows, deep down, that if Yellowstone goes off and wipes out North America, the rest of the world will cheer it's demise? Haiti got an outpouring of support because they're a poor little country that didn't deserve it, while we've been actively fucking up everything we can get our hands on. There wouldn't be any kind of aid, Europe and Asia would leave us to rot.
Well shit.
That Supervolcano movie was absolutely hilarious though.

There wouldn't be anything to give aid to, much of the area around Yellowstone would simply have been blasted away, a bit further away would just be vapourised, further away still would be buried under tonnes of ash and even further away? Well, New York and the like may remain intact, just about, but getting there would be nigh on impossible.
And the rest of the world wouldn't leave America to rot since they'd be rotting too.
would be funny
Canada is safe, everyone go there.
Oh ok, this is what roughly happened last Yellowstone eruption:

Usa got raped I see.
The documentary part of Supervolcano has some pretty interesting facts about Yellowstone.
I hope it does and only america dies :haw:
Exploring the US wastelands would be so interesting if it did.
Too bad, because it's not.
If it did you would never hear the end of it. Good thing I live in Pennsylvania.

It's actually a rustic looking lip balm.
It's not 2012 yet lol
Just to prove my point, every large spike in these charts is a swarm.

Your evidence actually shows an increase in the amount of volcanic activity over the years
It's not going to go off in atleast 100-200 years, I really wouldn't worry.
