Trotsky, is a BAD ass. when we went over the russian revolution, and read animal farm, I always had this mangasm when I read about him
Are you sure you know what you are talking about, because I think you mean he was a dick to the people rather to the country. He transformed russia from a 3rd world, uncivilized, barbaric shithole into a industrial superpower ready and able to face off and compete with western countries in less than 20 years. Granted he achieved it by committing disgusting and unspeakable acts but you cant really say he made the country a shithole. In fact that WAS his issue, he cared about the country so much he valued money and power over human life. Which by the way, directly contradicts communistic ideals.
making the country an fascist dictatorship = ruining the country
What is with commie's and mustaches/facial hair?

making the country an fascist dictatorship = ruining the country
yeah ethically wise sure generally when people say how well a country is doing, I always think they're talking about its economy
yeah ethically wise sure generally when people say how well a country is doing, I always think they're talking about its economy
Well people would be wrong.
If only he led the Russians instead of Stalin. The lives of millions of people would have been saved. But of course, the power hungry fucknut will do anything to boost his ego. :sigh:
Yes, blame the leader and not the idiots who followed him.
Once, a man deserted, and the court martial ordered every 10th person in his regiment executed.
Romans did that, twas called decimation.
Trotsky was a thousand times better than Stalin, and I fucking hate Stalin for cheating to get in power. God damn.
Yes, blame the leader and not the idiots who followed him.
Of course! Also the holocaust is the fault of all the german people, and iraq war and afghanistan is because of americans, not bush!
Once again people fail to realise that the Socialist Revolutionary Party had the majority of supporters, the only reason the Bolsheviks came to power was because of the Red Army.
Once again people fail to realise that the Socialist Revolutionary Party had the majority of supporters, the only reason the Bolsheviks came to power was because of the Red Army.
The russian provisional was weak and sucked. Bolsheviks were 10x better
If only he led the Russians instead of Stalin. The lives of millions of people would have been saved. But of course, the power hungry fucknut will do anything to boost his ego. :sigh:
Doubt it, the way he led the army was terrible and probably would have been replicated in his domestic policies.
The russian provisional was weak and sucked. Bolsheviks were 10x better
They weren't weak, they simply didn't end the war. The Socialist Revolutionary party had a much larger group of supporters and were favoured by the people. The Bolsheviks just had a better army. [editline]27th February 2011[/editline]
facial hair has actually decreased along the years. ho chi minh had the least before it all went out of style [img_thumb]http://www.learnnc.org/lp/media/uploads/2009/12/ho_chi_minh_1946_cropped.jpg[/img_thumb] Just a scraggly little goatee
Yeah but Ho Chi Minh was a total fucking badass. His whole wanderlust thing and pretty much going where he wanted just made him so awesome... and the fact that he told Comintern to go fuck themselves.
Well, in the Soviet Union, antisemitism was a giant crime if I recall correctly. Yeah.
Yet Stalin's last years beg to differ. I don't think the Soviet Union cared for anyone's human rights or dignity. [editline]27th February 2011[/editline]
well, the better man won
No, the man with the bigger army won.
Yet Stalin's last years beg to differ. I don't think the Soviet Union cared for anyone's human rights or dignity.
stalin didnt.
No, the man with the bigger army won.
Making the bolsheviks better
I wish I knew more about the Russian Revolution, is there anywhere I can read about it? Wikipedia is too in-depth, I just want something that says "there were these guys, and they did this, and this happened"

As a russian history student, some things you wrote made me cringe
Yes, blame the leader and not the idiots who followed him.
That's the most retarded thing I've heard in a long time. [editline]27th February 2011[/editline]
Yeah but Ho Chi Minh was a total fucking badass. His whole wanderlust thing and pretty much going where he wanted just made him so awesome... and the fact that he told Comintern to go fuck themselves.
You bluntly contradict yourself. First you say Stalin is a terrible army leader and yet you praise Ho Chi Minh even though his warfare tactics were not all that much different from those of Stalin, which was pretty much throwing thousands of poorly equipped and weak men into battle with absolutely no regard for their lives. No regard for strategy or tactics. KNOWING that the only way he would win is by just sending more and more men to their deaths. Minh was a terrible leader. [editline]27th February 2011[/editline] Although the US committing mass atrocities all across the country didn't help either.

I still dislike the U.S.S.R. for the Ukrainian Genocide.
So there were 4 main contenders in the Russian revolution: Lenin, Stalin, Kalinin, And Trotsky.
Trotsky got shafted because his name didn't end with "in"
http://www.cracked.com/article_16822_7-historical-figures-who-were-absurdly-hard-to-kill.html He also got a mention in here, which makes him even more badass.
I've tried finding things on Trotsky, but every link I've come across are people bashing Trotsky. What the fuck?
If I was in Stalin's position when Lenin died, I'd probably try and take power for myself. I you had a chance (and that chance is pretty damn high) to take over and do what ever the fuck you want with a country, you (at least I would) make a gamble and feel what unlimited power's all about >.> In Stalin and Hitler's cases, they worked...and both industrialized their countries in a fraction of the time it took the western democracies. Edit: (sigh, I feel horribly corrupt after writing this)

There have been an estimated 638 assassination attempts against him (from the wonderful CIA of course). Down with capitalism!
Once, a man deserted, and the court martial ordered every 10th person in his regiment executed. holy fuck.
Man, he totally decimated that regiment.
