The X-Wing in the video is the original one designed by Ralph McQuarrie before it was changed for the final movie.

Neat, gotta admit the Z-95 and that look quite similar.
I think the Wings split in the middle, you can see the crease, they're not stacked like the T-65 in the old movies. Plus look at how the Cannons are connected, they're on their own pieces.

Also the Z-95 didn't have 4 cannons.
There's a shitload of modified ones in the lore with 4 and even 8 cannons. Hell theres even one which has fucking X-wing style wings shoved on it. v:v:v
Do we know what this one is going to be about?
The prequels spoil shit tons of things in the original trilogy, including a major twist.
Stay away from them, they are shit and ruin the rest of the series.

The generally agreed upon viewing order is Original Trilogy and then Prequel anyway.
i heard there's a way to watch the whole thing that doesn't ruin any of the twists and keeps the pacing somewhat good
i think it was Ep4 - Ep5 - Ep2 - Ep3 - Ep6
skips Ep1 because it's that bad IIRC. some dude came up with this, think it was called "machete order"
it skips episode 1 because there is very little in that movie that isn't explained in the later movies. You don't need to watch it for any story.
Guys, stop arguing, it is clearly an X-95 Winghunter

Holy shit, it looks so much sleeker that way.
An excellent tribute to Ralph
Seeing that rebel pilot in his orange flight suit and white vest filled me with all kind of nostalgia. I'm really hoping Episode 7 turns out to be amazing.

RIP

Or just skip the whole prequel trilogy because they add nothing worthwhile.
That and they are pretty boring.
the proper order is 4-5-6 and then the plinkett reviews

I'm pretty sure everyone knows the twist even if they haven't seen the movie, star wars memes and videos are everywhere.
I'm pretty sure everyone knows the twist
this should never be assumed
A fan theory on how it could open
I don't think it opens period. If it did, there would be a slit.
I don't think it opens period. If it did, there would be a slit.
Right, because there is a horizontal line inside the engine just because.
This thread went full nerd quickly.
I hope the E-wing is used in this movie as the new fighter.
I like how in these updates, they are filmed to look like a movie themselves. Not just on a handycam or something.

I don't know it would be pretty lame to make a spiritual successor to the X-wing and not have it split.
The mockup probably doesn't open and is one solid piece so it makes it even harder to determine if it will or not.

Look at the unedited pic, there's a slit down the center of the top of the wing.
I somehow liked the prequels more because they showed a bigger conflict and didn't focus so much on a small set of characters. You know the republic vs the galactic empire (or separatists or w/e can't remember) instead of luke vs jabba with some mixed in rebel alliance at the end.
I watched all of them as a kid though, so I'm probably spoiled by all the cool clone wars and didn't care for acting.
Really curious on what episode 7 will take us to.
i really like the new design, but i hope they show some of the original x-wings in the movie aswell
If the story takes place decades (?) after episode 6 I wouldn't really want them to shoehorn old stuff in just for the nostalgia factor.

It would be cool to see the new republic use some TIE-esque designs as well.
Well in the old EU the republic used Star Destroyer inspired designs. Hell at one point they used a captured Super Star Destroyer.
what is considered a twist in the movies? The identity of Vader and 'Return of the Jedi' part?
I entered for a chance to win. Hope I do.
I still like watching the prequels for the battle scenes...
If Abrams can deliver another awesome sci-fi movie, then I have moderately high hopes for the Half-Life and Portal films.
If they don't end up being abandoned that is.
X-Wings are super cool, but my favorite Rebel Fighter has to be the Y-Wing

Here's hoping they have a spot in the new movies, newer models or not.
Fun-Fact: The B in B-wing stands for "Best"
