We get it, you don´t like Tool, so why don´t you just get out of this thread if you have nothing to contribute? And I agree Adam is probably not the best and most technical guitarist out there, but you can´t deny he´s not a damn good composer.
Wow nice shirt
And of course, like every retard 12 year old who thinks he's funny, he pulls out the random irrelevant racism. Good show.
uhhh creativity isn't playing a bunch of power chords sorry once you grow up maybe you'll understand
Ahahaha, this guy! You are funny dude.
I listened to Tool. It's dope but I can't get into the vocals.

Why, why, why?! What is so bad about them? They seem to be the only thing people hate about Tool.

Because there are so many different singing styles. There will always be someone who says "pfft. Bad singing". I know a shitload of people who hate high vocals, but I fucking love them, but then again, I don't understand -core ultragrowling.
uhhh yeah the drop d power chord skills? enjoy getting nowhere later on in some shitty bar punk band with that knowledge rofl
Who the fuck are you?

Your statement is invalid.
yea aenimas prob the best of them all but they all still sorta suck dog dick plebeian shit
Where the fuck did you learn to write?
[editline]14th October 2010[/editline]
I clearly stated that I respect Adam Jones for his creativity and this is what I put into my guitar playing, I don't like to play the same power chord all around the song, I play them where I want something to sound heavier, also power chords with a metal/glass slide are the shit.

Back on topic:
Someone asked about the new album on the previous page and I thought I'd share what i had found.
March 3rd:
Maynard James Keenan has said in a recent interview that he is too busy with other projects
to commit to recording a new Tool album. He metaphorically said:
"I don't know if I can right now. I am on the operating table and I'm breaching, I'm
having a baby. The idea of making another baby right now is not appealing"
Keenan is on the road right now with his side project Puscifer and has a DVD release of a
wine making documentary entitled "Blood Into Wine."
Rumors are everywhere about the new album. The latest announcement of the album was made in August by Tool's webmaster saying that their WOULD be a new album release in 2010 and that it is very early in development. This announcement was made in August.
I like how that other guy was complaining that power chords and shit, simple song structures mean that the bands suck
Just because a band is complicated doesn't mean it's great.
See the Faceless for an example, they're so technical and amazing at their instruments, that their music imo is unpleasant to listen to half the time because they are so good
There's too much going on in the music half of the time
A lot of the bands I love aren't super technical, really basic actually
I like Tool a lot, my favourite album is probably Ænima and quickly followed by 10,000 Days
I love the bass on 10,000 Days (Wings Pt 2) and The Pot, Justin Chancellor is probably part of the reason I want to start playing Bass all of a sudden.
Why, why, why?! What is so bad about them? They seem to be the only thing people hate about Tool.
They're not bad. I'm too lazy to describe it, I just don't like 'em that much.
They're not bad. I'm too lazy to describe it, I just don't like 'em that much.
That just means you have no reason for hating them.
He can say he wants, his reason can be that he doesn't like the colour of Maynard's hair
He doesn't have to justify to anyone about why specifically he hates the vocals
That just means you have no reason for hating them.
Nah, it's that I don't think it's worth my time to go into detail.
What if I want to get into to tool but don't know where to start, what albums do you recommend me?
What if I want to get into to tool but don't know where to start, what albums do you recommend me?
There's only 4 but I recommend (in this order)
AEnema
Lateralus
Undertow
and I haven't heard 10,000 days yet
I'd put in 10,000 Days at the top.
they're all good imo, undertow would probably go at the bottom of my list though.
Yeah, Undertow is good on its own, but doesn't stand up amazingly well as a Tool album. I'd probably be kinder to it if it wasn't by a band who have since established themselves as doing some pretty intelligent progressive metal.
I rearranged all the tracks of Lateralus into the fibonacci sequence, saved it as an hour-long audio file and listened to it one night.
Everything made sense.
You should upload that somewhere and show us.

Absolutely, it's about how they use those simple things, Tool doesn't have to be technically complicated to sound as great as it does.

How do you mean you arranged them in fibonacci?
Do you mean you listened to tracks 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8 and 13, skipping the others?
Lateralus and Aenima are definitely the two best albums for me.
Best songs, I'd have to go with:
The Grudge, Lateralus, Aenema, Pushit (Salival), Jambi, Prison Sex.
I cannot wait for the Big Day Out next year, I'll definitely be up the front to see Tool.

Song structure and lyrics are what makes a great band imo
Song structure and lyrics are what makes a great band imo
Not the actual music itself?
derp, song structure is the music
[editline]18th October 2010[/editline]
well that's what I meant at least
I'd say it's about what you hear and how you interpret that. For me, that's the great thing about Tool, it doesn't just sound great you can also interpret it in many / your own ways.
I love the artwork Alex Grey does for them.
