I think they should experiment with methanol engines. It's alot more friendly to the environment (though I don't care about that), it's cheap, around half the price of gas. Hydrogen. 'nuff said :science:
(Apart from the mere 'car crash' being "hydrogen bomb")
I was thinking in the next few years that manufacturers will be pumping out 0-5L or 0-6L turbocharged engines. I only know of 1, the Suzuki Cappucino (lol) which was a 0.6L turbocharged car producing about 70bhp (the power of your average 1.4L econobox). Less than half the engine capacity but the same power and big fuel savings, that was back in the early 90s. Easily achievable today.
The big problem I can see is that if cars start using such little fuel, the cost is gonna have to keep rising to maintain their big fuck off profits each year.

Those 0.6 turbocharged 3 cylinder cars are pretty popular in Japan. They're called Kei cars, if you didn't know that and there are lots of different ones.
yeah, and our stupid transoport minister just made kei cars illegal to import in canada (as well as all type of RHD in my province -_- ). FUCK U GOVERNMENT!
While we're on the topic of Kei cars:

In the US I'm pretty sure my car is illegal in 50 states.
My car is illegal throught the entire UK and most of Europe.
'Mirin the no cat setup with no reverse light.
Have known the local MOT tester for a few years so he's happy to pass it for a few beer tokens.
I have to drop the test pipe and replace the Cat for emissions testing.

If my car is a pos i just have to take it to the shady gas station that passes everyone for $100 or some shit.
Lemon, I came over the first two videos. Only made me want them more :smith:
hondas will never die
No inspection laws here, if the car runs it is legal.
...And I'm glad, since I am running just the downpipe right now. And no bumper marker lights. And my passenger marker is busted...
Up until this week I was running it without a front bumper cover and a cracked manifold that was giving me one hella exhaust leak.
Also, I have a turbo on my car, and after driving a built high comp N/A EF hatch, and then stepping into this Turbo CRX... I can't go back to N/A... Not as long as I'm in a Civic. There's N/A fast, and then there is Turbo fast, the latter of which you wouldn't understand if you hadn't drove one before.
I remember someone said they didnt like the uneven powerband a turbo produces,
THATS THE BEST PART!!!!!
it sucks when you blowoff midcorner and get liftoff because you can't get on the power fast enough :l
An MR2 turbo was my second car and yeah it was decently okay fast but it just wasn't my type of engine. N/A engines are more sound and feel over outright quickness - when cruising down scenic, windy roads driving spiritedly I'd sort of prefer my engine not to be making weird noises.

Sometimes I would prefer a N/A car for regular driving. The uneven powerband off turbo is fun when you're trying to go fast, but not when you're just regular driving and the turbo builds some boost. You start going faster out of nowhere but the car doesn't know what it wants to do with your fuel trims and timing and it's all a mess.
A lightweight Honda with a 2.0 or higher would be a fun driver. Not fast, but fun. I also wouldn't mind driving a supercharged 00+ Celica.

Its Great fun I'll admit, but if AutoX is your game it is hardly helpful.

98 Spec Integra Type R will quite easily do 0-60 in under 6 seconds with some basic breathing mods and a good tune. Absolutley glued to the road in the corners too. Not bad for a 1.8.

They also sell for $10,000+ and are as rare as fuck. 0-60 in under 6 seconds isn't fast though.

Rip off! You can pick a half decent one up for under £3,000 round here. For a 1.8 NA engine, it's quick.

sorry but i don't think i can ever go back to na, unless it was a v8 (or m3/is300) and even then i'd boost it eventually
[editline]23rd March 2011[/editline]
it's all in the tune, the gti has a completely even powerband and is super-easy to drive, my car not so much but with the new turbo it will flatten out a ton
[editline]23rd March 2011[/editline]
also electronic pedals are nice since you can remap the throttle curve to make things feel nicer

They are like the holy grail of all things JDM over here so obviously people will sell them as such. And yeah it's quick for a 1.8. But as I said, fun not fast. They are about as fast as my car was stock.

Yeah my tune isn't completely setup right now, maybe that's it. Still need to adjust the MAF and stuff. I'm anxious to see how it will drive with the 20G.

MAP>MAF for boost.
Yeah I have a MAP sensor I need to install. Then I can switch to speed density.
MAP>MAF for boost.
yeah dont rub it in lol
MAP represent! Woot, score one for the OBD0 Honda boy!
In reality though, I think the little extra umph I get from the car being turbo is quite nice. Even a mere 5PSI on basemap has me hooked, and I'll never go back unless I have to.
Same here. The sound, the look, the feeling, it's awesome. And I'm only on a little T25, it's hard to get smaller.
