Cabin In The Woods - A new spin on the classic horror formula

Here's a little blurb about the movie for y'all since the thread I made got locked:
Basically a bunch of kids take a road trip into a cabin in the woods. It starts out like thousands of other horror films do with exact remakes of creepy gas stations and the abandoned cabin by the lake.
But the twist is that those kids are vacationing in a remote area that is controlled by a Truman Show like group that uses a force field (the one seen in the trailer) to confine the kids going camping into not being able to leave. The guys who operator the force field can send minions and demons and creatures to try to kill the kids. So it looks like a cross between a horror film and Hostel or the Running Man.
But it turns out that the twists are not over yet. The kids aren't there for some sick twisted psychos to kill them as part of some elaborate show. It's really a yearly ritual where kids are lured into a remote area and killed in a ritualistic fashion to appease the gods. It seems that every year the gods demand tribute, and if they don't get it, they will destroy the world. The gods demand tribute in the form of a live horror movie....complete with horror movie characters killing the kids. I'm not even making this up.
Eventually the kids find the television studio style setup where they were being watched from and they try to fight back. But by then it's too late and the gods are angry. The script ended with an unnamed god reaching his gigantic white arm from underneath the ground and crushing the cabin and then proceeding to climb out from earth presumably to end the world. The movie ends there.
I'm so excited!!

The book of the same name in Skyrim was a good read.

Good post!!! There's a book in Skyrim with the same name and that's what I thought of when I entered this thread. That was my contribution to this thread, milfman1958.

Are you sure you're supposed to be on the internet?
Looks like an interesting movie, I'll probably end up seeing it if only because Joss is involved.

Thanks for ruining the whole story.
I'm so excited to ruin the fucking the movie for you without spoiler tags i'm a faget!!
Thanks man.
Ahaha this movie was fucking fantastic.
[sp]<3 the film makers for proudly referencing hellraiser in this. and lol at sigourney weaver once again being the surprise head of an organization and getting promptly killed after her reveal (Paul)[/sp]
Saw it tonight. It was fucking awesome! Highly recommend seeing this one.
This movie is amazing!
This is by far the best 2012 film
Perhaps only The Dark Knight Rises can beat it
This movie was even better than I thought it would be. It's not scary though, anyone expecting a horror movie is going to be disappointed.
My favorite part: [sp]When she hits the 'purge' button and the assault team sees the elevators are going to open. Talk about a 'Oh shit!' moment![/sp]
this movie owned so hard oh my god
Just got back from seeing it, absolutely fucking awesome film. Did not expect the last half hour of it at all!
lol [sp]deadites, the monsters from evil dead, [/sp] were on the white board of the monster list. [sp]Sin City's Kevin[/sp] was on there, too. At least, that's what people are assuming they meant.
[sp]Towards the end, SCP: The Movie.[/sp]
Ahaha the [sp]Hellraiser[/sp] monsters movie name is [sp]Fornicus, lord of bondage and pain[/sp]. Classy.
[sp]Seeing all the monsters when they enter the SCP foundation was cool as fuck. Felt like Thir13en Ghosts.[/sp]

I feel dirty mentioning that movie.
I couldn't help but feel that redneck zombies were one of the more boring choices of beast in the selection, but at least the later portion of the film made up for that. I especially loved seeing the [sp]merman[/sp].

That's part of the joke, it's random.
Isn't the "Angry Molesting Tree" from the Evil Dead?
ALSO, REALLY AWESOME CAMEO: in [sp]the shot where it pulls out to show ALL the cubes with all the monsters in them, look a couple to the right of the two heroes- there's a Boomer from Left 4 Dead![/sp]
i REALLY wanna watch this but the release date is for australia is...
12th of july
fml
[sp]anyone else laugh like hell when the dude got gored by a fucking unicorn[/sp]
Knew nothing about the movie and decided to read a review; BAM, ending spoiled in the first sentence.

I really want to see a pic of this
So, I loved this movie... I got the joke, loved the homages to other films, and laughed like hell when [sp]the director outlined the cliche order of deaths in horror films.[/sp]
But my mom hated it. She thought the whole thing should have been [sp] more based on mythology. Like, they're dealing with gods, so why weren't the monsters all mythological. She pointed out specifically the scorpion mech.[/sp]
I disagreed with her....
