You're supposed to be exploring areas for hidden supplies. It's a survival thriller, you don't just go in guns blazing blasting dudes left and right, it takes a bit of on the spot planning on how to best use a flare to break down the darkness of multiple enemies. Everything you have should be managed carefully, the only thing you don't really have to worry too much about is ammo.
It sounds like a lot of people are playing the game wrong. Some have even gotten the genre totally wrong.
I know, I know, and I usually do just fine, but I just dumped my last flares on the first encounter with all the possessed objects on the bridge and then it gives me axemen in super close quarters.
It's a really good game overall, but some of these combat bits are killing me both ingame and IRL.

Yeah honestly it can be REALLY annoying, I kind of forgot how frustrating some encounters can be.
I paid 1 dollar so i could get the steam keys :3

you should've paid more, Remedy deserves the money

Really? I found it hard to keep up with the amount of flares and flashbangs (and ammo in general) it throws at you. I finished episodes with a lot of ammo left, and hardly died.

I'm poor, i wasn't even sure the payment would go through

But yea, this game is amazing, I think i've bought it 5 times?
1. Randomly picked it up on Xbox 360 when it was first new, my parents were like choose 3 games. (Picked Alan Wake, Fallout 3, and Legendary)
Lets just say Alan Wake was the only one I loved out of the bunch.
I'm hoping all the money they're getting from this + quantum break will be put back into making Alan Wake 2.
Alan Wake 2 will literally be amazing. And with an updated American Nightmare engine they can do so much.
I also love the bonus content, and seeing how Alan Wake went from 2005-2007 was cool.
In 2005 the taken looked like guys in red sheets.
I havent read the screen play yet, but just having it gets me excited.
Two days ago I made a general game discussion for Alan Wake/American nightmare if you all want to go check it out as well:

This game has been awesome. I got it yesterday and have played 8 hours.
The combat is fun and unique and the story is pretty brilliant so far. The combat does get a bit messy sometimes.
