you are only a man if you have a penis
Tbh for a facepunch thread this has been pretty tame, was expecting someone to rock up like "only if u got a dick!" or something to rile up people Edit: God dangit
;42510374']It's stigma like OP's that prevent me from dying my hair. I mean shit I want to do it because I do. Except assblasters like this guy continually push this shit that it's unmanly or feminine and that's bad and buck up and act like you got a penis, go shoot a deer and get a wife and have 20 kids and bring home to bacon. I need a shed of powertools and a muscle car and if I don't have a hearty breakfast made for me by my submissive housewife then I'm a fag. I'm a productive member of society, fuck you. I want to dye my hair, I should be able to dye my hair without people like you proclaiming I socially castrated myself. That goes for wearing a hat and being skinny, too. Shit, who gives a fuck? "Confidence, honor, and dignity". What a joke. Get some real values.
Baw haw, did I offend you? There's no reason to be upset, I don't really care if you dye your hair or not, play videogames all day or lift heavy ass weights, drive a beetle or a hummer. To each it's own. However, I do what I want to do within reason and apparently you don't, because you care about what others think, specifically "assblasters like me", which actually makes little sense, because why would you? So at the end of the day it's your loss.

So at the end of the day it's your loss.
We live in a society and acceptance of other people and passive support is something that moves us forward as a people. To have the mindset that there is something "lost" when people choose to act themselves because they do not abide by values that conform to gender stereotypes of the past is regressive. On one hand we have a situation where people like you are attacking the concept of men not being manly, which is derisive to the targets of that attack. You seem to care when they act otherwise to what you think should be acceptable. What do you want from them, then? Do they care about what they majority think and conform the the social values and gender stereotypes, or do they not care and do what they want? I'm offended because it's people with ideas and values of gender stereotypes like you who practically pushed me to the worst point of my life. I grew up in a socially conservative area where "men were men and women were women" and the fact that I was a little more feminine, and a little more expressive with myself than most- and I stress the little bit- and even expressing that I wanted to dye my hair or style myself farther away from the stereotypical man's style, caused people to be aggressive to me. Not incredibly so, but I was practically socially outcast because I wanted to dye my hair. Homophobia is a motherfucker to deal with. I still have to put up with this shit, because sometimes I want to by a little more androgynous, and sometimes I go through streaks where it would be nice to be who I want myself to be and would want to express myself as such, but forget that shit. I get people who deride me and patronize me when I do that. It's easy to not care what people think about you when you're fitting into exactly what people "expect" from you. It's not so easy when you need to go out and directly face a few hundred people over the course of a day and some of them straight up borderline call you a fag because I wear my fucking hair in a way that's slightly more "appropriate" for women than men. I think that your complaints are outdated and not accepting of people who want to act outside of an old stereotype. I think that even implying that there are values or traits that make you a man, and ones that take away from that, is offensive. We live in a society with a mix of people. We're living in a society that is beginning to be aware that "WOW, some people are different and not everyone fits into a social box!" What you're doing is ostracizing people who don't conform to the strict line we had in the past when you attack men who are "chubby, greasy fedoralords with kyphosis, lordosis, guys that dye their hair red or blue, skinny hipster kids, males whining about their troublesome relationship and being pussywhipped". God forbid every man's not a fit conservative father-knows-best that commands his family that grew up with values like "dignity" and "honor" and is perfectly happy with never varying from that.
;42510711']-snip-
Gee, you jumped to some heavy conclusions about me pretty fast there. I wasn't crucifying different or alternative people or calling anyone faggot. Neither do I dream of muscle cars, bimbo big tit wife, Texas accent, 10 children and hairy forearms. And on my part this has nothing to do with sexual orientation, I despise homophobia myself and think people who believe it are either narrow minded or overly zealot-religious. But that is not the topic. I merely suggested people to express their view of the modern model of man and wanted to see if anyone else around here still holds the retro-like one.
I merely suggested people to express their view of the modern model of man and wanted to see if anyone else around here still holds the retro-like one.
Perhaps I did jump to conclusions, but my point still stands that the "retro" view of men is generally harmful today socially, and pretty backwards and unaccepting. I think that defining a "model of a man" is defining something narrowly and it's precisely because we have a "model of a man" that we have the problems today that we do with accepting that people are varied. Instead of defining what makes a proper man as we did 60+ years ago, which amounts people up to "you fit what makes a man" and "you don't fit what makes a man", we should instead just be open and inclusive. Why do we need models to adhere to or measure by with something like gender? You finished the OP with "What's up with this, are we really feminized to this point? Or do you call this progress? Or am I an artifact, still stuck in 20th century?" You are an artifact, and you are affecting progress when you hold a position of "And then I though of what I see everyday. Chubby, greasy fedoralords with kyphosis, lordosis, guys that dye their hair red or blue, skinny hipster kids, males whining about their troublesome relationship and being pussywhipped," being negative. Playing neutral by saying "I just wanted to discuss" does nothing when you made clear your stance by listing people that you find don't fit your retro standards of "manly".
having a penis and knowing to use it appropriately
People who tirelessly defend the retro definition of masculinity basically just whine 24/7 and that's unmanly as fuck
There's only two things you need to be a Man™ 1) A penis 2) The most expensive Wal-Mart fedora you can find

"Confidence, honor, and dignity". What a joke. Get some real values.
Most men aren't very manly these days anyways, at least on the internet. In my opinion it's mainly confidence, and not being a whiny little schoolgirl. And it doesn't really matter if you do that, it's not really "manly", but if that's not something you care about go right on ahead. But everyone will judge everyone and that's not going away, I don't quite see a problem with judging others as long as it's kept to yourself unless they ask.
a miserable little pile of secrets
In the end, that's what makes a human being.
having a penis and knowing to use it appropriately
You hold the shaft firmly and then stroke it up and down repeatedly, furiously. There, you are now a Man.
op can we see a pic of you? just to see how tank you are of course
You have to smoke and wear a suit.
Not being afraid of your own emotions and not caring what the social stigma says. If you want to be a man then you gotta learn how to not be cooped up in some socially-crafted cage for the sake of "image" and do what makes you feel like yourself. If you want to dye your hair or what the fuck ever, go for it. It's more "unmanly" to let people control you than dyeing your hair. Fuck me, it's not just whether or not it's manly, it's whether or not it's being a human being. This applies to everyone.
And a man, a man provides. And he does it even when he's not appreciated, or respected, or even loved. He simply bears up and he does it. Because he's a man.
op can we see a pic of you? just to see how tank you are of course
Oh, come on, that's irrelevant, I never claimed to be 220 pounds of pure muscle or a model. I can post something if you're persistent, though. But really, it's irrelevant.
i still don't really see how posting on internet forums is particularly honorable or dignified or builds confidence. making this thread was basically the least masculine thing you could have done
i still don't really see how posting on internet forums is particularly honorable or dignified or builds confidence. making this thread was basically the least masculine thing you could have done
It's called a discussion and with this being the 21st century, it may very well be held on an internet forum.
i want to see if you match the type of man you describe and expect others to be
The type I described was rather psychological, not physical. I don't see what posting a picture of me would accomplish, but I've nothing to lose so have it anyway. I don't have face shots of me on this computer.
It's called a discussion and with this being the 21st century, it may very well be held on an internet forum.
yeah but you're using it to bitch about people you've randomly decided you don't like rather than actually talking with them about your issues in person. you're being presumptuous and cowardly all at once, while also complaining about how nobody embodies these concepts that you've arbitrarily defined as masculine and that you yourself fail to apply.

And I'm not having issues with anyone. I think I already stated before I wouldn't really give a damn if a guy's a bitch. I'd smirk at worst. I guess that make's me a dickhead, but that's my own problem and I'll deal with it.
so you mean to tell me that that paragraph you wrote about people who you've decided in your infinite manly wisdom are completely devoid of "confidence, honor and dignity" wasn't just you bitching tirelessly about people you just happen to find unpleasant for no reason
