sigh snip again
I don't understand the selective censoring with guns and stuff, but it makes sense not to blur out body parts.
Society: This is a penis. That is a vagina. Can we move on now? We have one or the other!
God, I hate people treating the body as a wicked thing. Naked people are just people.
Just asking.
If i would put piece of white tape over my penis would i be then free to walk around as nude?
just one piece?
Does Hong Kong censor the internet in the way mainland China does? (i.e. can you use youtube and facebook)
Does Hong Kong censor the internet in the way mainland China does? (i.e. can you use youtube and facebook)
Nope. Like I said Hong Kong is way different. It's like being in America.

He'd need just one small piece.

Um, I live in Shanghai and I've never witnessed this.
Um, I live in Shanghai and I've never witnessed this.
Well all China satellite companies must be the same, right?
Basically after Hong Kong was handed back, the Chinese government had the bright idea of not changing what made that city prosperous, it worked.
Hong Kong is like the most relaxed place in the world. I love Hong Kong.
But you haven't witnessed real censorship if you've only been to Hong Kong. Visit Beijing or Guangzhou (I think it's above Hong Kong) some day and try to use the internet. It's not fun at all.
Also that's some weird movie censoring you're describing, I've never witnessed over there. But then I only bought cheap DVDs.
I always think this with Japan's censorship. They pretty much run the show in weird pornography, I'm sure most people here have at least heard of tentacle rape porn (which exists and not just in hentai form), but my trip to Japan exposed me and some friends to a whole lot of other hilariously fucked up genres:
Giant women porn:

Things being crushed by women porn:

And my personal favourite, women being punched in the gut porn (no seriously this wasn't just abuse/rape porn which by that point appeared quite normal, this was literally a DVD devoted to women being punched in the gut):

BUT YET, you will NEVER see a vagina in Japanese pornography, or a penis, without some form of censorship. It can be blurred out completely or as minimal as a thin black strip across the clitoris/urethra, but it is still required by law to censor at least that much. Sorry that might have been kinda off topic but it just came into mind whilst reading your thread :v:.

And also, Hong Kong is NOTHING like China. Hong Kong is like a better New York. It's its own country pretty much. It's my favorite place in the world, officially. The people dress great, the girls are beautiful. A lot of people speak English, more than I imagined.
That's what I've always heard about Hong Kong. China has always been more lax on HK since it's such of a big economic advantage for them. I wonder how some of the other cities like Shanghai are like.

I use slow proxy sites to view things I could view in America much faster. This may be true but i've never heard any complaints from people about this.

It all has to do with how children are raised. Families tend to avoid reality on this subject which does nothing but make it awkward.
Also there are some foreign Chinese students in one of my classes and they keep telling everyone in their horrible accents that their government is 'helping' the people whenever the subject is brought up.

Stop breaking my patriotism.
To go to Hong Kong for college. People really have the wrong mind to think of what it's like here. My dad is the director of innovations for the shoe company Brooks. I know that when I go back to America to live there, I will have a secure job for my career. When I apply for a job in America, I will be looked at more than someone who didn't graduate internationally compared to someone who did graduate in America. It's because we make so much business in China and knowing the country and understanding hard accents is a giant plus for people like me.

I've seen Hongkong through video's on youtube ( a channel filming in HK) and i must say i am quite impressed. It looks like any city, but there are many places where people can chill out and enjoy the moment. And i love their red cabs. They look cool.

It's weird. In japan they think it's slutty to wear a tank top (see tits and bare arms) while they wear their skirts up to their crotc.

I liked how censors are in Japan, then they decide to un-censor the nearest chick getting touched by tentacles anime
Japan probably needs censorship on porn as their birth rate is pretty low.
China is the other way around. Need no censorship because of their high birth rate.

Dunno about much censorship on tv in the mainland, but I find it mostly lame.
I remember a few shows, in fact they were pretty violent.
The previews for a cop drama was more like some action movie.
Although there is one network that is pretty liberal, phoenix network or someshit, yellow swirly crap for a logo.
I feel really sorry for you, they blocked Back to the Future and Doctor Who in China.

What in the fuck?
Do they think time-travel is the work of the devil or something?

So it's a case of "This porn sucks! I'm gonna get someone pregnant because it isn't censored!"
I was born in China. :) but yes, entertainment such as tv or Internet isn't the greatest there. Their Facebook is something called QQ and their servers are horrible. No youtube sucks too. I told my cousin to youtube it or something and he said, "whats that?". If you enjoy historical stuff it's definitely not a boring place to live. At least for me. I always enjoy my vacations back.
China blurs physically harmful substances as Cigarettes and alcohol. They blur a gun to your temple for the sake of youthful ignorance. But fuck! THEY BE NOT BLURRING SOMETHING AS HARMLESS AS TEETS!!!
Sorry. It's you that's ass-backwards. Their censorship, as inconsistent and weird it is, aims to keep its population happy and healthy. Yours just result in depression and soccer moms. Where i live, northing's censored. It's the parents responsibility.
I always thought to my self back in America "Why are they censoring this? It's obvious what is going on". And then I moved to China.
We finally got satellite here, and I've enjoyed the free movies they present but some of my favorite scenes are gone. For example, in The Matrix, every scene where someone is holding a gun to someones face, the gun is blurred out. But if the gun is being used for shooting it isn't.
Then I found it even more hilarious when I started to see the scene of the oracle, her cigarette is blurred out when she is smoking it but when it rests in her hand it is completely visible. Asians here smoke like they are on a rollercoster of death, I don't know why they like it so much but seeing how this gets blurred out must be a problem. I mean who would really would watch a movie like this and think to their self "I wonder what she did with that cigarette when she put it to her mouth :downs:"
Even alcohol will be blurred out yet I can go to the store and buy some without them even asking for any piece of info of my self and I look young as shit, I'm bad at aging.
What I found even more odd is that any scene with tits isn't blurred.. You can see all of nudity. No pointed guns, no cigs, no alcohol, but they keep the nudity. For once, I think censorship got it right, censor things other people shouldn't do, but keep things we have no choice but to keep on our body. Censorship of nudity is about the stupidest thing I've ever seen on TV. But censorship here is the funniest thing I've witnessed living here.
My parents treated me differently. Always told me to cover my eyes in kissy parts and sexy time parts, but they let me watch and play the bloodiest, goriest shit ever (Like postal 2)
