I went to china, no problems with anything cept for pirated movies EVERRYWHERE, on the internet, on the streets EVERYWHERE
They are literally everywhere, It's great.
I've been interested in Hong Kong for some time, the place seems so fascinating. I wish you would do a "Ask me about Hong Kong" thread. Speaking about censorship hows the porn there?:quagmire: Is it as weird and as censored as it is in Japan?

Thought it was pretty stupid.
So it's a case of "This porn sucks! I'm gonna get someone pregnant because it isn't censored!"
No, censorship has the opposite effect. It makes people want to know what it is like.
I remember once in Iron Man 2, he said something like 'God damned Russians!' and the word 'Russians' was reversed/blurred.
I think the blurring of penis in Japanese porn is even more retarded Not that I like looking at penis or anything
China! We eat dogs and can't censor for shit!
Drugs and weapons are bad kids, make only love
but it is still required by law to censor at least that much. Sorry that might have been kinda off topic but it just came into mind whilst reading your thread :v:.
That small black strip is whats stopping kids from going on a full murder rape spree. But with it on porn is as safe as a childhood kids show (which is pretty violent in japan)
The heat and humidity is crazy there during the Summer. Also, I don't get why they blast AC in stores and just leave the doors open... It's like they're trying to refrigerate the world.
my aunt would always leave the ac on in her place. everytime i entered it was like winter
[This video has been replaced with a more suitable video for your area, Long live Mao Zedong!]
Such strong war-like lyrics to such a happy song.
They censor cigarettes, guns, alcohol, and anything having to do with protests. Something is seriously wrong with that "people's republic".
They censor cigarettes, guns, alcohol, and anything having to do with protests. Something is seriously wrong with that "people's republic".
Hm, sources? I've been there a few times and I have seen cigarettes, guns and alcohol on the tv and in movies. Protests I haven't though.

The protests thing was all over the news a year or so ago when the entire non-Chinese world remembered that peaceful protest that the "People's Liberation Army" broke up with tanks.

That's fucked! Something's seriously wrong with that "Country of the free". No censorship is perfect since all of them infringe and insults the individuals own ability to process and file information mentally.

Also that censoring OP saw wa most likely due to the television network, as he said it was in Hong Kong. HK's censoring is almost the same as in the West.
And yet you chose satellite over the internet
Hong Kong's great, I agree.
Its crazy how much culture shock we experience sometime. I just moved into my dorm, and I have a Chinese Grad student as my roommate. Its been a very different experience.
Stop posting, that will make me shut up.
You're a very mean person But no I think that makes sense in a completely ass-backwards way.
OP has yellow fever
They censor cigarettes, guns, alcohol, and anything having to do with protests. Something is seriously wrong with that "people's republic".
Watch a drama reenactment of Mao Zi Dong during WWII count how many cigarettes he smokes 10 packs a day no doubt.
My family is in mainland China because the job is so deep in the country, but my goal is to live in Hong Kong next year. It's actually not as terrible as people make it sound. I've really liked it here but Hong Kong is definitely way better.
Hey mate, I moved to China too, but I have to travel to Hong Kong every 30 days for 1 night as per my visa. I'm going back on the 11th of October, Wanna grab a drink mate? Also, Hong Kong is an amazing city, my favorite by far, I dont get the cencorship you talk about on my TV I have an illegal satellite system and a VPN for the internet. But mainland China isnt too bad to be honest, the driving is pretty shitty but apart from that its nearly the same in my city. Just a lot less to do. The girls are amazing though! And I look young ish but i've only ever been asked for ID once and that was in Hong Kong, Stanley, the peculiar pelican bar, they do the best fish and chips.
OP has yellow fever
So do i :P
OP, I'm thinking about going to China to study at Sun-yat-sen University in about 2 years and I'd like to get some ideas of what China in general is about, because honestly, I'm a bit nervous about living internationally, but I can't let the opportunity pass. Any information would be awesome :) Also, for those of you who don't know, Sun-yat-sen university is in Guangzhou, which apparently censors everything.
China confuses me. They blur out guns in movies but also publicly execute people.
