I always thought to my self back in America "Why are they censoring this? It's obvious what is going on". And then I moved to China.
We finally got satellite here, and I've enjoyed the free movies they present but some of my favorite scenes are gone. For example, in The Matrix, every scene where someone is holding a gun to someones face, the gun is blurred out. But if the gun is being used for shooting it isn't.
Then I found it even more hilarious when I started to see the scene of the oracle, her cigarette is blurred out when she is smoking it but when it rests in her hand it is completely visible. Asians here smoke like they are on a rollercoster of death, I don't know why they like it so much but seeing how this gets blurred out must be a problem. I mean who would really would watch a movie like this and think to their self "I wonder what she did with that cigarette when she put it to her mouth :downs:"
Even alcohol will be blurred out yet I can go to the store and buy some without them even asking for any piece of info of my self and I look young as shit, I'm bad at aging.
What I found even more odd is that any scene with tits isn't blurred.. You can see all of nudity. No pointed guns, no cigs, no alcohol, but they keep the nudity. For once, I think censorship got it right, censor things other people shouldn't do, but keep things we have no choice but to keep on our body. Censorship of nudity is about the stupidest thing I've ever seen on TV. But censorship here is the funniest thing I've witnessed living here.
It's pretty much the same thing happening in Thailand censorship-wise. (Tits are censored though)
Blurring out guns, smokes and alcohol makes way more sense then blurring out tits and dicks and whatnot.
Good thing neither of those things are censored over here.
To go to Hong Kong for college. People really have the wrong mind to think of what it's like here. My dad is the director of innovations for the shoe company Brooks. I know that when I go back to America to live there, I will have a secure job for my career. When I apply for a job in America, I will be looked at more than someone who didn't graduate internationally compared to someone who did graduate in America. It's because we make so much business in China and knowing the country and understanding hard accents is a giant plus for people like me.
And also, Hong Kong is NOTHING like China. Hong Kong is like a better New York. It's its own country pretty much. It's my favorite place in the world, officially. The people dress great, the girls are beautiful. A lot of people speak English, more than I imagined.
i'm not sure it's understanding hard accents so much as understanding and speaking foreign languages. understanding someone speaking with a thick accent is as impressive and useful to an employer as guessing what color you're about to shit
I wonder if copyright infringement is even a big deal in China.
Are you kidding? They sell pirated movies on corners of the streets.

Old English colony, of course they speak English a lot there. Just look at India.
But out of curiosity, how's college there? Been contemplating it for a while.
well THAT was a mega-bump if i ever saw one.

I feel the same way when FUCK on tv is changed to F*CK. Seriously, who are you fooling?
Only if they didn't censor anything
