I love King Crimson, but I don't really enjoy In the Court of the Crimson King, except 21st Century Schizoid Man. I think Red and Discipline are much better albums.
I don't really enjoy In the Court of the Crimson King
Epitaph, is sublime imo. Moonchild can be a bit unrealistic, but it's still inspired and nice. The last song on the album is my favourite. ... Talk To The Wind is indescribable really.
I think they're great compositions and pieces of music... just not that easy for me to appreciate unless I'm really in the mood.
Guess you wouldn't like Larks' Tongues in Aspic then :smug: That album boosted my music listening 3 fold.
finally gotten over my dislike of Yes
I can understand how people can dislike Yes, but that doesn't stop those people from being STUPID. Well done for becoming not stupid.

Speaking of Dream Theater, I'm getting into them. Album reccomendations? Probably going to get Images and Words or Octavarium next time I head to the record shop.

Hehe, weirdos disliking music :smug:
Steve Hackett's solo career is fucking amazing. A Tower Struck Down is fucking awesome.
Speaking of Dream Theater, I'm getting into them. Album reccomendations? Just finished listening to "Images and Words" and "Scenes from a Memory" for the first time, that was a fucking experience I think I'll order "Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence" now...
Superb album, one their best early albums. I prefer to hear Close to the Edge or The Yes Album but that's sublime.
Needs more fragile....YES!!!
I'm quite partial to South Side of the Sky, myself.
Fragile is great but personally I've been digging Tales from Topographic Oceans recently
In terms of their 70s stuff: Relayer The Yes Album Tales from Toby's Graphic Go-kart Fragile Drama Close to the Edge Going for the One Yes Time and a Word In that order. All are sublime, though, ignoring Tormato, only On The Silent Wings of Freedom was to my taste from Tormato.
Listening to The gates of delirium with winamp pro visualizer on my desktop. Shit is so cash.
Steve Hackett's solo career is fucking amazing. A Tower Struck Down is fucking awesome.
My dad told Steve Hackett to piss off once. At a Steve Hackett gig. (This was many years ago, back in the days when you didn't know what your favourite musician looked like)
Any modern upcoming prog rock bands? I don't mean prog metal because that's already accomplished itself, I'm talking about straight up prog.
Any modern upcoming prog rock bands? I don't mean prog metal because that's already accomplished itself, I'm talking about straight up prog.
Like "New Prog"? It's debatable whether it's "true prog", but a couple of modern bands considered progressive rock are Coheed & Cambria, The Mars Volta, Mew, even Radiohead and Muse, I think.
