Like "New Prog"? It's debatable whether it's "true prog", but a couple of modern bands considered progressive rock are Coheed & Cambria, The Mars Volta, Mew, even Radiohead and Muse, I think.
Nevermind... may have found what I'm looking for

See, that's prog metal. Still great, but I've divulged into that genre.
However "Neo-Prog" may be along the lines of what I'm looking for too :v:
It's not metal
It's neo-prog
Also the album PwnNoobsFtw gave me is awesome...

Good band.
However, something like this

Although 1992, not quite 2000s.. it is still "modern progressive rock". :smug:

Where did you find something like that? :psyduck:
I don't actually remember
You should also check out Satellite, The Black Noodle Project, Sylvan, Amplifier, and Quidam

Heard of Sylvan and Quidam, someone recommended those to me.
Any albums you'd recommend?

Awesome, will look into them.
The Hypnos 69 album I'm listening to now is actually quite good :v:
If you want a new project to look out for, Squackett. Steve Hackett and Chris Squire, so it HAS to be good.

Requires some "prog listening" capability... but it's absolutely worth it.
Only released last year too :v:

Weird that you should mention them, they just broke up :saddowns:

Akayz, have you tried Aquarius by Haken? It's not prog rock in the strictest sense but it's the most 70s prog influenced album I've heard in a while. Failing that, check out White Willow

Heard of that album.
Forgot who recommended it to me, but will look into that. Cheers.

What Just now? :psyduck:
Last week or something :v:
Is a damn shame.
Dancing With The Moonlit Knight and 21st Century Schizoid Man.
Two songs that torture me with their ability to play in my head all the time.
...wait a second, is the thread title a reference to Yes' Starship Trooper v:v:v?

That song is amazing, I need to get that album.
And what the hell, John Wetton and Bill Bruford, why have I never heard of this band?

Miles better than Asia.
Thinking of getting into this kind of music. I think I listened to a Dream Theater album once, and some Dear Hunter. Tell me a good album to start off with though.
I got both their albums on vinyl
[editline]19th March 2011[/editline]
Surprised neither of you have heard of them

Underdogs....
I've heard Fripp's collabs with other people though. His albums with Brian Eno are awesome.

Hah, I even saw it coming. Heard good things from many many sources. I'll find it and listen to it.

Their Red album is probably easier to get into, but their debut must be heard :3:
Try some Pink Floyd too.
