I expected some Donkey Kong theme after the first few notes.
When listening to King Crimson, I must say it would have been great if Greg Lake continued as their lead singer. His voice fits the band so perfectly. Then again, we wouldn't have ELP if that happened.

John Wetton suited the band imo.
King Crimson are awfully inconsistent with their sound though.
Therefore it's not right to judge the eras against others.
All in all, it's Fripp + awesome musicians = King Crimson
Fripp said that he saw King Crimson as 'a way of doing things' as opposed to a band which implies he thinks they have a consistent sound which is just not correct on so many levels
It's also like that for Rush. They didn't stick to one sound, but instead just changed it to whatever they preferred. They aren't as experimental as King Crimson though :v:

Jazz to Hard Rock to New Wave to Prog Metal
Now I think they're going more for a jazz phase, different but same.

They even shove reggae into their live sets. Shit's awesome.

I must get a copy of their most recent live shows. Gavin Harrison is playing on them :psyduck:
Second part of Dream Theater's search for the drummer.

Goddamn Minnemann was amazing!
I really hope he gets in.

Okay I now have this :smug:
Is there progressive hip hop?
I am just getting into Progressive, but I am having a hard time finding any albums. Any recommendations? I don't really care what it's like, but I don't really like some of the slow trippy stuff that gets dragged on for a long time.

try some more pop oriented prog albums.
80s Genesis, King Crimson, Yes.
Otherwise you will have to put your back into what it's truly about. :v:
I'm going to be the first prog rapper

Technically, turntablism is progressive hip hop.

Start with these albums:
[img_thumb]http://remus.rutgers.edu/JethroTull/Photos/aqualung.jpg[/img_thumb]
Jethro Tull - Aqualung
[img_thumb]http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_aSZi-earFyU/Scyy7tNlZtI/AAAAAAAAAMc/e5cdIYhUQHk/s320/1973+-+Camel+-+Camel+-+front.jpg[/img_thumb]
Camel - Camel
[img_thumb]http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_iL47N3vIr5w/SlZNyQ7uSgI/AAAAAAAAAMg/Zaodql0CNGU/s400/court-crimson-king.jpg[/img_thumb]
King Crimson - In The Court of the Crimson King
In that order. Those are probably the best "entry-level" prog albums in my opinion. Enjoy your prog! :3:
Well I just had my first gig that wasn't in the middle of nowhere with my prog band. It was awesome. We ended by tacking the final section of Octavarium on the end of our massive instrumental. Shit was epic

This, plus The Yes Album, Selling England by the Pound and Moving Pictures.

Ooh yes. Though for Yes albums, I'd say Fragile is a better introductory album. :3:
And ofcourse something by Pink Floyd, like Dark Side Of The Moon.
IMO Going for the One is a good introductory album for Yes
In my opinion. The Yes Album or Close To The Edge are best introductory albums. :smug:
Pink Floyd introductory ones are Animals and Meddle.
[editline]28th April 2011[/editline]
King Crimson... probably the debut and Red.

Too extreme for some. :smug:
Also, I think Lizard is underrated.

They need to be one with the prog.

There are some of those that are afraid of the wild nature that prog can have.
Also, I've seen that some of Elton John's early albums are quite prog rock. Don't know why it isn't labelled as.

It has Jon Anderson in vocals!
Anyways, I've been busy listening to some Van der Graaf Generator:

It's amazing stuff. You should all listen to The Least We Can Do Is Wave to Each Other and Pawn Hearts. They're only albums I've listened from them so far and I love them both.
