At least we have a new Yes album in the works. :smug:
And Rush
tool, isis, opeth.
Where the crap is Porcupine Tree? One the best and well known modern prog-bands? Anesthetize(aka orgasmic) Sound of Muzak As a drummer, Gavin Harrison is also a huge inspiration to me(not forgetting Phil Collins and Bill Bruford). Saw Porcupine live last years, was so cash. Funny thing is, Gavin Harrison played with King Crimson in 2008 or something, live. Genesis - In the Cage(my favourite) Too bad Phil can't drum anymore, since his back is fucked.
Just because Porcupine Tree isn't mentioned in the OP doesn't mean we don't like to talk about it :smug: I guess within the last 3 years have they started getting popular so can't really value it's influence just yet. I need to hear their earlier work.
At least we have a new Yes album in the works. :smug:
I find '00s albums by the prog classics a bit weird. They're not bad, they're not amazing, they're just... there.
I find '00s albums by the prog classics a bit weird. They're not bad, they're not amazing, they're just... there.
It's true. It is due to the way they are confused about how Prog Rock has become accustomed to newer music. We'll never get anything like it was in the 70s. Nothing like will ever happen :3:
has the dawn ever seen your eyes

Their newer stuff is good. :smug:
RUSH is a bit different though. Instead of trying to sound like they used to, they change their sound to what fits them the best at that time. This is the main reason why they still have it going so well.

Listening to Instrumedley (Dream Theater) Never gets old
It's true. It is due to the way they are confused about how Prog Rock has become accustomed to newer music. We'll never get anything like it was in the 70s. Nothing like will ever happen :3:
That´s depressing :frown:
That´s depressing :frown:
Not necessarily. If you dig deep within what happened in the 70s, you can technically be occupied for the rest of your life with 70s prog rock. It wasn't just Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Genesis, Yes, ELP and King Crimson. I assure you

I assure you
I guess that´s true, but I still find it sad that that entire era is pretty much lost for ever. It´s like realizing you will never again play Pokemon Gold on your Gameboy Color for the first time (replace with any definitive/memorable moment from your childhood that you will never experience again).
Well, you can't re-experience a memory, since its already a memory of yours and cannot be recreated without the knowledge of the original memory it is based on.

There is something about the way the lyrics and musics goes so well together in that song that makes it so perfect for me.
That ending is just beyond awesome
Quiet you! Now discover some Italian Prog Rock.
That´s pretty good, though I´d like to understand what he´s singing about. I know there is tons of stuff for me to discover, but discovering something doesn´t really compare to getting your hands on a new album you´ve been waiting for, and nowadays there isn´t much of that, for me at least.
Well, you can't re-experience a memory, since its already a memory of yours and cannot be recreated without the knowledge of the original memory it is based on.
Yes, but it´s still something that´s forever lost in time. Damn you time for being such a bitch :argh:.
TehKaboose, you're supposed to use apostrophes, not acute accents. :v:
I always saw The Nice as a bridge between psychedelic rock and prog
maybe that's true of their first album, but Ars Longa Vita Brevis is certainly prog, and still came out almost a year before ITCOTCK.
Yes, but it´s still something that´s forever lost in time. Damn you time for being such a bitch :argh:.
But without time we would not have that great Pink Floyd song.

It was released only last year.
TehKaboose, you're supposed to use apostrophes, not acute accents. :v:
Well they're like apostrophes but just a bit tilted :v:. I don't even know how to get them on my keyboard. Got it, just for you.
Well they're like apostrophes but just a bit tilted :v:. I don't even know how to get them on my keyboard. Got it, just for you.
Inbetween ; and #.
Inbetween ; and #.
Actually some keyboards have the on number 2. It`s not the best idea. :v:
