It's their second album, first one's more traditional and folky, third one's good too but is less popular.

part 2 is great too
What does everyone here think of Elbow? I've heard them being compared to Gabriel-era Genesis. They're not really proggy, but it's an interesting comparison.

Anyone else getting a 'Dancing with the Moonlit Knight' feel from this?
I love them, personally.

I like the fact that JP is stepping back a bit. Sounds good having Jordan more at the forefront.
I like it.
Genesis time!

Gotta be one of the best songs on Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, and this has to be one of the best re-recordings I've ever heard. I've been listening to it obsessively, its just fantastic.
In fact Genesis has to be on my top 3 prog bands/people. Absolutely genius.

Their 80's stuff is the first 80's stuff I've ever really gotten into as well

I love them, but personally I wouldn't call them progressive rock.
It's awesome. You tried Ozric Tentacles?
I've been meaning to, but my list of bands to try is kinda long right now

They're more space rock and psychedelic rock, for most of their stuff, but last fm has them tagged as progressive rock, so there we go
Just got a decent 5.1 surround sound system, and I need some suggestions for 5.1 albums I should buy. I want to hear what prog rock in 5.1 sounds like :v:
Red by King Crimson
Stupid Dream by Porcupine Tree
Still Life by Opeth
In The Land of Grey and Pink by Caravan
The Dark Side of the Moon [SACD Edition] by Pink Floyd

Get all of what Corky said and:
Wish You Were Here
Fragile
Mirage
Do they have 5.1 mixes of those?
Probably not. :sigh:

Interesting cover.
I need to listen to more Mars Volta, I've only heard Frances the Mute (which is fucking awesome)
Prog Rock and Crust Punk make an interesting combination.

Get the 5.1 Mix of In Absentia, and the 5.1 mix of Insurgentes
I'm thinking of doing a livestream on the early morning of the 9th of July, perhaps around 8oclock. (Eastern Australian Standard time), so I imagine that would be 8th of July, at around 10 o'clock at night GMT, or 6 o'clock at night in New York. Keep in mind my internet blows, but I've run some tests and it seems to work so rate:
- Agree for Porcupine Tree - Anesthetize
- Useful for Steven Wilson - Insurgentes
- Informative for David Gilmour - Remember that Night
only rate if you're going to show up
If you guys would prefer another date I can hold a vote but atm it's 8th of July
Can't do Friday, gotta be up early Saturday morning and probably going to a party Friday night anyway.
Depending on numbers I can change the date, will probably have to do so
