I listen to the drums after a few listens, when I basically know the song by heart
Just saw Opeth and Mastodon live, front row.
Shiit, how was it? What did Mastodon play?
Mastodon was the loudest thing I have ever heard. Didn't even have ear plugs, cause obviously those things are for pussies. If I'd want to preserve my ears, I wouldn't do it in a metal festival :v:. From Crack the Skye they only played Crack the Skye and Ghost of Karelia, would've hoped for more, though. Then they played at least Blood and Thunder, Circle of Sysquatch and Sleeping Giant. I can't really name others. Such a shame Slipknot was the "lead performer" there. Luckily they were the last to perform so I didn't have to listen to them.
Did either band happen to play anything from their upcoming albums?

Listened to the first Tubular Bells for the first time. Was confusing and just weird most of the time, but actually got really good at the end. Reminded me somewhat of Pink Floyd by then.
I've been meaning to listen to that 1 man 1 album 1 song 100 instruments final destination
"AND TWO SLIGHTLY ~DISTORTED~ ELECTRIC GUITARS" Yeah but no, it was actually a bit boring for the middle half of it but it got pretty awesome at the end. Mind you there are 2 songs on the CD and I only listened to the first.
Uhh Tubular Bells is definitely just one song
2 parts though
Wouldn't it make more sense to just combine side 1 and 2 on the CD
Oh well hell I don't know, it came on my dad's car stereo shuffle from his flash drive and I said "Hell keep it"

Pink Floyd aren't "really" prog, more art rock, except for Meddle and Animals. I recommend more Yes and King Crimson.
Did either band happen to play anything from their upcoming albums?
No, I don't think so. Åkerfeldt was wondering how some people already hate the new album and it hasn't even been released :v:.
I hope he has fun with his hearing damage
Didn't get any tinnitus, not one bit. Actually, when I went to sleep I had less of it than normally. Couldn't even hear my own voice right after it, though v:v:v. It was so worth it.

He re-recorded it. But original is best, I don't get this "over-ambitious" judgement. Is it trying too hard to be what you thought it was going to be or?
He re-recorded it. But original is best, I don't get this "over-ambitious" judgement. Is it trying too hard to be what you thought it was going to be or?
Yes
Then don't judge before you hear. :P
Then don't judge before you hear. :P
I said I have listened to it :v:
Mike Oldfield wrote tubular bells as a tragic epic, but it turned out much more lively and happy than he intended. So he re recorded and put that on the record too. B-sides gotta be filled you know at least thats what they told me
Well anyway, I listened to an orchestral version on Youtube. Not the orchestral version that was released by Oldfield, but one by a Japanese orchestra. Really great, but the original version had a better ending, with [sp]the announcements of the instruments, finally culminating with the Tubular Bells themselves.[/sp] So I think the orchestral version had a better midsection, and the original had a better beginning, and ending.
I got Frances the Mute by The Mars Volta yesterday: My god this stuff if completely insane And AWESOME

All fucking amazing albums. I should get Amputechture aswell, that's also awesome. Fly From Here should be arriving in the next couple of days. I have only moderate expectations of it, so hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised. The single sounded great.
I've only heard De-Loused. Frances the Mute sounds interesting given that its concept was conceived from an actual diary.
