I'm not saying the song itself is boring, I like it. But some parts to Mother Fore and Mind Your Throats please are, just in my opinion, kind of repetitive.
Silence in the studio!

I seem to like Atom Heart Mother more each time I listen to it

Mmmm, yeah. Storm Corrosion sounds really interesting - Akerfeldt on Guitar, Steve Wilson on keyboards and a lot of orchestra, strange album. Sounds awesome.
Also - Porcupine Tree - "I think next year there will be a new record"
Listened to a bit of "Globus".
It's kind of Symphonic Prog mixed with orchestration and other styles. Really awesome..
Got one of the restocked copies of the mega special edition of Grace for Drowning, and two days after release there's a Steven Wilson signing in Glasgow :toot:
You should totally go :buddy:
I'm totally gonna :buddy:
Gonna take that, my Incident book thing and my PRS backplate so he can sign it right next to Mikael Akerfeldt :3:
Guys Anathema just released a new album called Falling Deeper. if you haven't heard We're Here Because We're Here, then you're seriously missing out. It was one of the best prog albums of 2010. I wrote a review of it before but not many people listened. Do so now.

That's from We're Here Because We're Here.

We're Here Because We're Here was one of the best albums of 2010, if not the best album.
I love Anathema.
Falling Deeper is a solid album. really solid. You have to listen it to it the whole way through to get the full effect but fuck, its amazing. On par with We're Here Because We're Here for sure.
Been listening to Animals As Leaders. They're fucking amazing. Going to see them in November.
A tiny bit sloppy, but

I've been wanting to get into some prog rock recently, but I've only really listened to Pink Floyd and Rush. I'm a huge fan of prog metal, but I've been wanting to get into some softer stuff. What do you recommend for starters?

King Crimson's In The Court Of The Crimson King and Red are both must gets.
Genesis' Foxtrot and Selling England By The Pound too.
If you want more modern stuff, try Porcupine Tree's Stupid Dream and Transatlantic's The Whirlwind and Bridge Across Forever.
Oh and also, Yes' Relayer and Fragile and Camel's Mirage.

Listen to some damn Yes, son! Close to the Edge is a great album, and so is Fragile and The Yes Album. If you want two great songs just to get into them, listen to Siberian Khatru and/or Yours Is No Disgrace. Holy shit my skin crawls just by thinking about those songs.
New Mastodon album leaked
Listening to it now, it's good
I never listen to leaked albums. I have the respect to wait until it's officially released.

However listening to it now is helping me decide whether I'm going to buy it or not once it's actually released
I was under the impression that Anathema has always been death metal. When did they shift to prog rock? Or is it a combination of both?

They were one of the pioneers of doom metal actually, but they shifted into atmospheric and prog. There's no way I would call them any form of metal at all now. They got really famous for Serenades, which was their first studio album in 1993 and pretty much pure Doom Metal, but from there they gradually changed until you get to A Natural Disaster, which was released in 2003 and wasn't metal at all. We're Here Because We're Here is atmospheric, prog metal stuff. Not much metal though.
Falling Deeper is actually an orchestral reinterpretation of their doom metal songs.
Great Comparison:

Totally chilled. Anathema take a LOT of influence from Floyd.
Like a fuckload of influence.

Good Cnumb cover as far as Cnumb covers go. Anathema have done so many PF covers its ridiculous.
Edit: Holy shit, Grace for Drowning is released on Monday. Here's an excerpt from the 23-minute track "Raider" -
So very King Crimson.
I don't know if would be classified as progressive or not, but if you enjoy prog rock I think you'll like Rome, written by Danger Mouse & Daniele Luppi. It's basically a tribute to the great scores of spagetti westerns, as well as having some great vocal tracks.
The whole thing sounds like a great soundtrack to a western movie that was never made.
Some of my favorite songs from Rome.
