I'll review GFD once people start getting it, theres a lot to say about it Also GFD wouldn't arrive in Australia on release date, surely?
Well I got a shipping confirmation on Wednesday.
Listened to the first half of Grace For Drowning. Really enjoyable, however there were some sounds on Insurgentes that made it a great record. This is still good, but more a straight forward Prog release for him.

GFD isn't like that, it takes a few experiments and pushes them to the limit and repeats them in a number of songs
this one feels more personal in some ways.
this one feels more personal in some ways.
Hmm, maybe. Lyrically it's fairly weak I'm finding but musically I think you're right. Insurgentes had a few advantages over this - the backstory of him travelling the world which really affected the way the album was written (it became more diverse as a result), and the fact that it was a dedication to the post-punk and shoegazing genres, which was less familiar territory for him. I can't really say how I feel about this record, I really don't know. On one level I love it, but on another, it has flaws. Not the best record I've heard in the last 2-4 years like I said before but its right up there for sure. Insurgentes was a masterpiece to me. I don't think this is, but hell, its close.
Listening to the second part now.
Listening to the second part now.
Don't do them in succession if you can help it, its exhausting
Why the hell is GfD released 28.9. here while everywhere else it's released today? Two more days then, sigh.
It WILL come tomorrow. It WILL come tomorrow. It WILL come tomorrow. It WILL come tomorrow...
I've almost started saying the same thing about Heritage...
I've almost started saying the same thing about Heritage...
My copy of Heritage came last Wednesday. And then my PS3 got the YLOD just as I started listening to the 5.1 mix, and I didn't find out how to eject it until Saturday...
Oh hey this thread is still here, I remember making this. Celebratory Focus is required.
I kind of hate and love Focus at the same time. I really love them because they can write really good music and they're pretty funny and fun to watch, but I hate them because they make songs that are both serious AND fun and light-hearted at the time, like this. Really annoys me sometimes.

My lack of Grace for Drowning is making me progressively angrier...
:smug:
Finally got a message confirming that Heritage has been sent. Apparently it was sent on the 21st... You'd think they'd tell me that on the day.
So what do you think of Heritage? I love it, personally.
Great album... best since Blackwater Park... but Deliverance is also good so I might have to relisten.
