Why? He wants to be paid for his work more than he gets paid for the commission he gets on online websites, which is absolutely miniscule.
Robert Fripp is a very, very interesting man. He's not a dick at all, he's just [i]incredibly[/i] eccentric. I love listening to him speak because he's just so odd. Like in one interview, some journalist asked:

His response:

Peter Gabriel's gone on to say he thinks that the version on Exposure is the definitive version because it strips back some of the original's pomposity, but I must admit to me, the original version on Car is perhaps his best song on what is probably his best album. It's one of my favourite tracks of all time
I like the version on Exposure better. Its more emotional.

and even then a person's rating is mostly defined by how much a person enjoys it from a critical perspective... what kind of point are you making here

it's not like i'm forcing you to change your interests or anything, i just really think a lot of other bands are doing more interesting things for modern prog and i just wondered if anyone felt the same way as i did.
but making "elitism" and "overrated" connected is kind of silly. think whatever you want really
Mostly about experience rather than enjoyment for me. It's like "Why complain about not enjoying it when you chose to hear it?"
It's the same with movies. I don't want to see Twilight unless I feel inclined to.

In what sense is PT overrated? It's not even that popular of a band and I think they deserve every little bit of praise they get.
Also, Wilson just announced some venues for the second half of the GfD tour. Still not comming here, I'm so sad right now. Maybe there's still hope, though.
Oh, and "one of the dates will also be filmed for a Blu-Ray / DVD release." That's cool, at least.

i just feel like at in absentia and beyond, there weren't as much imagination and creative ideas flowing around. all this negativity i find in this stylistic change were excused well on fear of a blank planet (which is really the only pt album i like of their most recent 4...)
i guess i'm just part of the base that prefers his earlier works, i honestly wouldn't be surprised if his fanbase was really divided

While Wilson's earlier works have a certain charm to them (Up the Downstair is amazing), to be honest, it wasn't very original at all. He was just basically ripping off all the 60s/70s psychedelic/prog bands, he has even said so himself. So when it comes to creativity and imagination I think the later era wins by a long shot. You should really give the later PT stuff another chance.
I've heard PT to be called "Girl Prog".
Considering heading back to London for the second Grace for Drowning show. It's standing this time
