Progressive Rock - Psychadelic Galaxies in 7/4 Time

Well, about to finish Thick as a Brick 2 (second last track now). It certainly hasn't been a bad experience. It's not as great as TaaB1 was the first time I heard it, but I can at least say I'd put it into regular rotation whenever I play Jethro Tull.
Definitely good, above average. But not on the same level as the first album.
Edit:
But the biggest problem with the album is the sound of the guitar and keyboard/synth. They sound like they came straight from a karaoke recording and have no emotion to them at all.
Yeah I just remembered about this part of your post. I did notice that. It sounded fairly bland compared to TaaB1.
Finally bought Grace for Drowning and my god, it's amazing.
Getting paid on Friday. And immediately spending it on a Storm Corrosion special edition pre-order.
the big new prog release from the last few weeks was TAAB2, but another one that flew under the radar somewhat but has greatly impressed me is The Black Chord, by Astra

The cover art (for me at least) is immediately reminiscent of the classic Yes albums, and the music is similarly reminiscent of 70s prog; I first found out about this band around the middle of last year after clicking on an interesting-looking related youtube link, and it took me until reading the description to realise that the song was released in 2009 rather than the early 1970s. for anyone with an interest in modern prog with a heavy retro feel, I'd highly recommend both this album and Astra's first release (The Weirding). here's a song from each

Sounds pretty nice.
I'm going to show this to my friend, who is a huge Yes fan, when I can.
That sounds really authentic 70's, nice guitar tone
Found a copy of the first album by Premiata Forneria Marco today, so not Per Un Amico which I think has been mentioned before, but one called Storia Di Un Minuto which imo is just as good, if not better than Per Un Amico

This song rocks, great riff

This is great. Just the sort of thing I've been looking for for a while.
Thanks!
Listening to 2112 once again, I have yet to find a progressive album I liked more.
RUSH RETURNS WITH “CLOCKWORK ANGELS”
CELEBRATED ROCK TRIO’S FIRST STUDIO ALBUM IN FIVE YEARS SET TO ARRIVE ON JUNE 12TH
NEW SINGLE “HEADLONG FLIGHT” LANDS AT ROCK RADIO ON APRIL 19TH
Rush has unveiled details of its highly anticipated, new album, “CLOCKWORK ANGELS.” This is the first new collection of original material in over five years and their first studio release via Anthem/Roadrunner records. “CLOCKWORK ANGELS,” the band’s 20th studio album, will be released on June 12th.
The recording of “CLOCKWORK ANGELS” began in April 2010 with Grammy Award winning producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Deftones) – who also collaborated with the band on their last studio album, 2007’s “SNAKES & ARROWS.” Rush co-produced both records. The first two songs, “Caravan” and “BU2B,” were completed during that first session at Nashville’s Blackbird studios and performed nightly during the wildly successful Time Machine Tour, which ran from June 2010 to June 2011. Work on “CLOCKWORK ANGELS” resumed in the fall of 2011 at Revolution Recording in Toronto after the tour’s finale, with additional strings (arranged by David Campbell) recorded at Hollywood’s Ocean Way Studios earlier this year. Lyrically, “CLOCKWORK ANGELS” chronicles a young man’s quest across a lavish and colorful world of steampunk and alchemy as he attempts to follow his dreams. The story features lost cities, pirates, anarchists, an exotic carnival, and a rigid Watchmaker who imposes precision on every aspect of daily life. The novelization of “CLOCKWORK ANGELS” is being written by science fiction writer Kevin J. Anderson in collaboration with Rush drummer and lyricist Neil Peart.
Rush will herald the release of “CLOCKWORK ANGELS” with a new single “Headlong Flight” landing at rock radio on April 19th.
Details of a full-scale North American tour to support the new album will be announced shortly.

Someone in the comments noticed something very cool:
Note that the time on the album reads 9:12 = 21:12 in military time.
[editline]13th April 2012[/editline]
The album art looks like it would be a Dream Theater album cover.
Probably because it's done by Hugh Syme, who makes Dream Theater's album covers.

New Rush song. It's awesome.
How the hell have they managed to not produce a bad song in 38 years?
Yeah, this is awesome.
Clockwork Angels is shaping up to be one of the best Rush albums in quite a while
These are just hilarious:

I like the one where they describe their creative process as going on a huge record buying binge, going out to dinner getting absolutely hammered off wine and then heading into the studio
That is the life I want to live
I also find it ironic that steven wilson hates apple but is holding an ipad in each clip
Also Mikael Akerfeldt has been listening to this a lot in the past few weeks:
is their first album an essential listen because I'm looking to mail order it in
Well it's more prog folk/freak folk than anything else but if you like Roy Harper or Current 93 stuff then be sure to give First Utterance a listen.
Just bought Tarkus.
My god this album is fantastic!
I really thought I was an armadillo/tank hybrid flying through space while listening to the title song.

He doesn't hate Apple. He hates the digitisation of music due to MP3 players and the like. The iPods in the Insurgentes clips were purely symbolic. I mean all of his albums since before he worked with Opeth were done with Logic on a Mac :v:
Wondering what you guys think of a few albums.
I'd like to get a 1-10 rating or comments from those who have heard any of these.
Blue Phantom - Distortions 1971
Arzachel - Arzachel 1967
Velvet Fogg - Velvet Fogg 1967
Egg - The Polite Force - 1971
Zior - Every Inch a Man - 1972
Thanks for the feedback!

It is amazing and everything I wanted
The start sounds a bit dross to me but maybe it'll pick up but after about 3 minutes it's fully in and it's in fact completely amazing
