Personally I thought the video was more interesting than the song

The video was pretty outstanding and managed to stand out more than the song for me too, so I don't know how the song will do on its own. Though, the song was pretty amazing too and the video was made for the song and not vice versa so it should be fine. I have to say I'm really excited for the album.

What the video was TRYING to convey, brought out more of the emotion in the music, but it was just so bad... Also it looks like I might be in their next tour DVD. Its been leaked I'm a leak fanatic so I may as well tell you that it is one of the best prog albums I have ever heard, incredibly inventive and always throws something right out of the left field when you least expect it, though it barely rates as prog in my books. Anyone expecting prog, rock, or metal in any way, shape or form, even the slightest inclusion is going to be disappointed. This is more of an avant-garde album in my opinion and a fucking great one at that.

Just listened through the new Anathema album. Absolutely incredible. Beautiful stuff. And the 5.1 mix is fantastic.

Storm Corrosion is fucking great. Can't wait 'til I receive my vinyl copy.

Yeah, Storm Corrosion feels like it might grow on me, but currently only Drag Ropes is the track I think is [i]really[/i] good.

Is Uneven Structure prog?

I haven't listened to the new Anathema album but the two tracks I heard sounded like We're Here Because We're Here except not as good. I hope I'm wrong. In my opinion Drag Ropes is actually one of the less exciting tracks on Storm Corrosion so there you go

I have decided not to download Storm Corrosion at all. I want to experience it for the first time in 5.1.

I wanted to buy it but the only version they offered was a super special edition with a bunch of stuff I didn't want

i can't remember whether or not I've posted about Dün in this thread before, but even if i have i think it's worth doing again since this is my favourite prog album and it'd be a shame if you guys hadn't heard of it [IMG]http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vY8I5HvOvk8/Sl5Fin5rMSI/AAAAAAAAH0I/4U9dZ5336Pw/s400/Dun-Eros.jpg[/IMG] this is consistently one of the most creative and energetic prog albums I've ever heard, and features excellent playing and composition throughout. it's almost entirely instrumental, which brings the unusual instrumentation (prominent xylophone, for example) to the fore. It's often categorised as Zeuhl, and there are certainly some similarities in the instrumental style, although the lack of vocals is a big difference; I'd certainly recommend Eros to Magma fans, and indeed to anyone else interested in a very tough but very rewarding album. there are 4 tracks on the album, my 2 favourites of which are posted below [media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rj2lXOAC_aA[/media] [media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emjBUQifwMw[/media] (I particularly recommend listening to the bass-driven section starting around 2:37, which is possibly my favourite moment in all of music)

I think Storm Corrosion is quite good, but might take a few more listens to fully appreciate it. I think there should've been more singing from Mikael, as he's got a wonderful singing voice.

Storm Corrosion arrived today, listened through the blu-ray. Absolutely incredible album. Almost as good as Grace for Drowning, not quite there, but damn close. And considering Grace for Drowning is one of the best things I've ever heard, that's saying a lot. Just wish Mikael had a bit more of a vocal presence on the album. Drag Ropes set me up hoping for some more great duets, but Mikael doesn't sing again until Ljudet Innan. My favourite tracks would have to be Storm Corrosion, Ljudet Innan and Drag Ropes.

I find it to be one of the albums thats equally good as critical and background music. If you liked Ljudet Innan check out pretty much any of Talk Talk's later output, its the closest thing I've ever heard to the atmosphere of Laughing Stock. [media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrS5ztAJ5xw&feature=related[/media] I really hate the progarchives forum though, they dismissed it as 'ambient crap' within a few days of release. In fact a lot of what is said on that forum is pure garbage. Also I agree about Mikael's vocals but when I listen through the songs and try to imagine Mikael singing them, it just doesn't work.

Laughing Stock is probably their best imo. Also Mark Hollis' solo album. Really great 'ambient crap'.

How anyone who claims to like progressive music could not like this baffles me. Although they all seem to be the type of prog fans who think it's all about technical virtuosity and odd timings.

The late 80s and early 90's were full of these fuck off influential bands that seem to be forgotten about and Talk Talk is like the epitome of them. Laughing Stock is one of the best pieces of music I've ever heard, when you turn it up to full it pretty much projects the idea of nature throughout your house On the note of such bands, has anyone heard much of Ozric Tentacles? Erpland is probably their best, but Jurassic Shift is also worth hearing. It's essentially space rock, but they're all round pretty fantastic musicians. I'd actually call them veterans but shame not enough people know about them. I found out about them because I was talking to a guy about Pink Floyd in a poker game, he mentioned the ozrics and I realised what I was missing. They released an album last year too which is pretty trippy, albeit a lot more electronic than their previous stuff.

ozric tentacles are hella talented. known about them for quite a while now known about dun and PFM as well but I never bothered listening to a full album by the latter

Premiata Forneria Marconi have been mentioned a few times in this thread and have a great run of classic albums. I think my favourite track is off their first album though, it's called Impressioni Di Settembre and it has this absolutely killer moog melody in it: [media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OzbDUbu1lMM[/media] Also Per Un Amico is a pretty fantastic album too.

Ozric Tentacles are one of those bands I hear about constantly but always neglect to check them out.
