To be honest I've only listened to it a few times before.
I'll give it another whirl sometime and see what I really think.

Why isn't there any Meshuggah here? In my opinion it's the best progressive metal band out there.
This is only two segments from an album called Catch 33. The album is actually a 43 minutes long song, divided into 13 smaller segments.

Dancers To A Discordant System. Excellent composition, I don't know how but they make the really random parts sound natural somehow. It took me ages to learn to play this on guitar, and it's still a bitch to remember fully. It's a song that no-one else would even consider to make.

This is how I got to meet (and sing) with Jon Anderson.

That concert was one of the best things I have ever done in my life. Ever.

Whalecore is best core
It's as mainstream as Prog-Rock goes; but The Mars Volta, pre-Octahedron is a amazing.
Omar Rodriguez Lopez also has some really good stuff if you can find it amongst his ten releases per year.
Anyone going for obscure prog albums?
Gimme some :3:
Not obscure, AK'z. But if you hadn't, I do suggest El Grupo Nueve De Omar Rodriguez Lopez's Cryptomnesia if you like TMV.
I try to suggest that as often as I can.

Haven't listened to it yet though.

Check out Somewhere but Yesterday by Citizen Cain. My friend's dad drummed on it :iia:

Giving this a listen

Sounds like Phil Collins. :smug:

CHORUS GUITAR WHILE I SING, like, PHIL COLLIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNSS!
Sort of sounds like a mixture of Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins actually. Some nice music.

Catch Thirty Three is an outstanding album. Disenchantment and Sum are perfect finishers to the album. It's so intense hearing Jens scream for 10 seconds against all the other instruments, and then there's that creepy little ambient melody that makes up the rest of the song. Brilliant.
On a less heavy note, I've been listening to alot of Jethro Tull's '80s stuff, like Crest of a Knave, Under Wraps and A. :iia:

First thing I thought when I opened it was "holy shit did Peter and Phil mate?"
Listening to When Dream and Day Unite.
Not incredibly impressed, cool to see how they started though. The playing's top notch, the songs not so much
[editline]12th March 2011[/editline]
The Killing Hand is fucking mighty though
The only song I can fully enjoy on When Dream and Day Unite is Ytsejam
I like A Fortune In Lies the most, but I enjoy them all.
Best flute player in the world?

You took the words right out of my mouth. Catch 33 is the best metal album I've heard so far, it has so many dimensions to it that you can listen to it hundreds of times without getting bored.
So I heard this album for the first time yesterday:

Completely blew my mind. Definitely the best album I've heard in a while.
Not to mention the best yodeling I've ever heard, period

Sounds great, I'll look into it. Definitely rings a bell.
Holy shit I thought you would know about Focus D:
I dunno, I've been going for the obscure stuff recently. I'm pretty sure people have played it to me before though.

Too bad Jethro Tull beat them to the whole "flute in rock and roll thing".
Amazing band though, all though Ian's flute playing is still far more impressive then Thijs van Leer's.
