FREE And not Free-to-play
It's not f2p, it's just straight up free.
"ITs free" holy shit
I don't really understand twitch, why is it about 5 seconds after everyone flipped out in chat over it being F2P did all the negative messages suddenly start getting deleted lol [t]http://i.imgur.com/itUhiSB.png?1[/t]
THEY JUST SAID ITS NOT F2P its just free, no microtransactions
Heart Attack Averted, its just for Free. I hope it follows in the steps of Quake Live.
so why is f2p bad again, or are we all just having a collective knee-jerk reaction
snippity snoop. I just heard.
New UT without microtransactions with modsupport?! MAXIMUM OVERHYPE

Epic have stated on their twitter it ISN'T F2P. It's just free, like TS: Rewind
since when did a free game = f2p
Free like Quake Live?
I'm curious how they are going to pull this off, involving the community on such a high level.
Kind of amusing, it's essentially a community-sourced Unreal Tournament to be made using the Shooter blueprint of Unreal Engine 4 and entirely free in the process.
So epic always had a policy of only making Unreal 1 mods on Unreal games, but with a new Unreal Tournament on UE4, doesn't that now mean people can remake Unreal 1? I know Lord_Porksword is working on remaking the first 2 levels of Unreal with some weapons in UT3, but UT3 was ass ugly
The engine literally prints money in royalties. I don't think they will need microtransaction shit. There are UT engine games for everything, and dozens of them. Phones, PCs, Consoles. The ut3 engine is one of the most ubiquitous game engines for titles in the past 5 years, maybe longer.
since when did a free game = f2p
to be fair that is free to play on the spot in definition, more than other free to play games, because its free across the board, no microtransactions
will they be showing gameplay tonight?
will they be showing gameplay tonight?
They haven't even started making the game yet :v:
will they be showing gameplay tonight?
The game isnt built yet.
to be fair that is free to play on the spot in definition, more than other free to play games, because its free across the board, no microtransactions
'f2p' refers to a technically free game with microstransactions (T:A etc.). this game from the sounds of it is just free.
will they be showing gameplay tonight?
They literally announced they were working on the game. There isn't going to be anything for awhile.
That'd be pretty fucking impressive if they did considering they are starting development today. Holy shit mega ninja fuckballs
Honestly, the base gameplay should be already there give or take some additions thanks to Blueprint. What'll need to be made are the assets, levels, weapons, sounds, etc.
The wiki JUST got online, check it out guys! https://wiki.unrealengine.com/Unreal_Tournament Here is a great list of shit Here’s the plan: We’ve created a small team of UT veterans that are beginning work on the project starting today. From the very first line of code, the very first art created and design decision made, development will happen in the open, as a collaboration between Epic, UT fans and UE4 developers. We’ll be using forums for discussion, and Twitch streams for regular updates. If you are a fan and you want to participate, create a free account and join the forum discussion. All code and content will be available live to UE4 developers on GitHub. The game will be true to its roots as a competitive FPS. Development will be focused on Windows, Mac and Linux. So what’s the catch? It will take many months until the game is playable by gamers. This is real development from scratch. When the game is playable, it will be free. Not free to play, just free. We’ll eventually create a marketplace where developers, modders, artists and gamers can give away, buy and sell mods and content. Earnings from the marketplace will be split between the mod/content developer, and Epic. That’s how we plan to pay for the game.
Also like bloodshot said, the royalties and other things involving the engines will get Epic lots of money anyway. And if people need UE4 to contribute code or levels specifically, then all the people trying to help with development will be paying Epic $15 a month for usage of the editor (unless it turns free or they get exceptions somehow).
