Even with this weird turn of events, "toasty sock guy" (as I will call him to help you understand the timeline) still needs to bring up the lion because the origins of the lion are still unknown and NEED to be known for the story to be played out correctly (do not ask why). For No Reason's story of how the events go should account for the missing lion origin, and then we can proceed with the story as normal.
