wouldn't work anyways. ever since they stopped asking for kssn because the government made it illegal (rip my kssn, you were only useful to me after i had already left korea), they've been doing other methods like phone verification.

and plus the na version is apparently being "talked" with sony online entertainment.
I thought Korean MMOs where notorious for pay to win micro transactions.
Yeah but who cares when most of it is just PVE.
I just want it free so I can easily make characters with the creator.
♦ A parkour system, similar to that seen in Prince of Persia and Assassin's Creed, allowing players to climb, explore and interact with buildings and obstacles.
♦ A dynamic, worldwide weather system which will include large scale events such as typhoons and will influence gameplay. Localized weather will include events such as temporary fog which players may exploit to launch surprise attacks on rival guild structures. Seasonal weather changes or travelling to areas with different climates will require the player to adjust their equipment, for example using warmer clothing in cold weather which also impacts on a player's statistics.
♦ A dynamic day/night cycle with a gradual progression of lighting effects. During the night some NPCs will become unavailable as they return home while the number and type of monsters that a player may encounter will increase. Different game content will be available depending upon whether it is night or day.
♦ Player housing will be instanced and will vary from tents through to more substantial houses and buildings. Players will be able to furnish and equip their housing and may hire NPCs to set up as traders from the building.
♦ Players will be able to engage in mounted combat. Mounts are acquired by taming in the wild and players are able to breed special mounts by mating certain types. Mounts require feeding and care, cannot be stored in the inventory, and may be killed.
The Elder Scrolls team should probably copy+paste this for the announcement TES 6. Also, developers over here should really learn from the town design in that: it looked so real and immersive, the Skyrim towns just feel fake like cardboard cutouts. I only really mention single player RPGs because I just couldn't care less for MMOs, they all end up a cesspit of micro transactions and/or grinding and then go F2P.
It's a sandbox mmo too?
Everytime I see steparu's character (the one in the OP's video) I laugh my ass off because she ended up with a copy of Lightning from FF13.
It's a sandbox mmo too?
According to the wiki page of the game, this is a sandbox title. Not sure what they mean with sandbox, as in that you can build things?
I literally thought it was a new AC as well, it's uncanny
Looks alot like the Witcher and AC. Which is pretty great.

Nah, just the opposite of "theme-park" mmo genre.
I doubt it could work very well outside of Asia since they have like 10GB internet speeds there
That HUD is horribad

What are you referring to?
So this game is a sandbox game right? Cause I'm so tired of the themepark style of MMO's. Sadly enough the last good MMO experience I had was Runescape.
What are you referring to?
South Korea has freaky fast internet connections, so it's no wonder the game could work if there's master servers. But here, in the US? Where most people still have under 500KB speeds? Nah, not gonna happen with a world so dense
You could apparently pickpocket too.

Not to mention their service provider's servers are like down the block. Shorter lines and high speeds pretty much makes lag a relic of the past.

What? That's BS. Battlefield can do 64-player MP with 5KByte/s.
You barely need to send ANY data for NPCs anyway.
that ass is fucking huge lmao
[editline]18th May 2014[/editline]
A shame about the typical MMO UI because everything else about this game seems to be trying to bring singleplayer immersion into an MMO
By the title I thought It would've been scantily clad bikini armored busty 3d models of asian women , and I must say I'm pleasently surprised it wasn't.
Worldwide beta when.

How does it work? I'm imagining that it records the actions/position of other players and it displays it visually to you.

Note: 64 players. This game is an MMO, as in >1000 players. This MMO is also extra-interactive with AssCreed-style parkour and there seems to be collision in this. That's a whole lot of data, and the city seems just as populated as AssCreed, an SP game. Imagine that but with NPCs you can interact with and 999 other players to go with it. That's a whole lotta data.

What? No it's not a whole lot of data, it's SOME extra data. There are a whole lot of tricks to reduce the amount you send, like how World of Warcraft doesn't do authoritative movement speed.
NPCs are close to zero overhead. In terms of networking at least, the reason why MMOs keep it low is because it's heavy to render.
How does it work? I'm imagining that it records the actions/position of other players and it displays it visually to you.
It does, yes. Things they do to keep it low is have a low updaterate (10 updates sent to the player per second) and a culling system to choose if they need to send anything about other players. The basic one being distance, then stuff like if they're in line of sight.
It's laughable that they keep the low updaterate on PC. PC lead platform my ass.
Every time I see videos of BDO it makes me feel like its a bit too good to be true. I've been wrong before, but I just have that vibe every time I see it.
I can't tell if its wow esque combat where you just mouse over icons and click to fight or if it plays like a thirdperson shooter where mouse click = attack
i REALLY hope its the thirdperson shooter type. I can't stand the clickfest that most MMO's are
Oh man I'm getting wicked Dragon's Dogma vibes from this.
I hope it's Korean standard F2P and not P2P
god imagine a dragon's dogma mmo where players could just pick each other up and drop them to their deaths

It's like TERA online. I've noticed that a lot of big budget Korean MMO's are copying Blade & Soul's combat system of being action/twitch reflex based with light targeting. TERA was the first big one to copy Blade and Soul's combat, and now Black Desert is copying it.
It's not necessarily a bad thing, but it's a shame these kinds of games hardly make it into the international market.
This looks insane. I might have to get a copy of the Korean version depending if/when they announce the NA/EU
It will be worth it.

It's F2P
It's F2P
Well shit, but yeah, download the game atleast.
Is there going to be an ingame store?
