I remember the show Johnny Bravo also uses a lot of sound effects, including whipcracks
Yeah, but with Johnny Bravo, it's like *turns around incredibly fast* *whoosh noise* with Johnny Test, it's more like "Hey, Johnny" *guitar riff* *turns head around at normal speed* *whipcrack noise* "Where's the milk?" *Cow noise* "It's over there" *points off-screen* *whipcrack* *guitar riff*
as well its with every character in Johnny Test, note how in Bravo only JB makes those noises.
What the fuck, there's already so much dialogue and stuff going on at each moment I can barely keep up, but those sounds make it really difficult to focus. How are kids even supposed to know what's going on?
They're not, it's the hyperstimulation approach, just put as much noise and flash into everything as possible in hopes that it'll grab attention. Of course the idea of that working for children was scientifically debunked 40 years ago, but that hasn't seemed to stop people from thinking it works.
well i mean, there's this too
Also this fight from episode 22 was really good. It was even produced in Japan whereas most episodes of the show are produced in France. (sorry for the shitty fps, this was the best footage i could find)
Are you seriously saying "This Tom and Jerry show" like you don't know what Tom and Jerry is or is that just bad reading? And that was common sound design for older cartoons anyway, it denoted a heavy impact and was pretty effective overall.

Tom and Jerry Tales is an animated television series which began production in 2005 and premiered in the United States on September 23, 2006, and ended on March 22, 2008, on The CW.
I'm talking about this shitty new show, the old ones were really good.
Sometimes it felt like 2006 T&J Show forgot Tom was the villain since a lot of the episodes were about Jerry being a total dick while Tom just wanted to do whatever that didn't involve catching Jerry.

Remember when Hanna-Barbera ran the boomerang channel? good times. Also, they were the ones that created Johnny Bravo, Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's laboratory, Cow and Chicken, And The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest. Truly the gold of cartoons this generation.

if you need any example of how american animation can truly fuck up something incredible, look at the new teen titans
I think the sound effects are there so kids can visually connect the dialog, object on TV with a sound effect which means something i.e. talk about milk, put cow sound
In that specific example of someone asking for milk and then a sound of a cow, sure. But whipcracks every time a character so much as moves their arms or hands or fingers or turns their head or moves their feet or turns around or does any movement at all? No, that's fucking retarded. Little kids who watch this show that are ages 4 or 5 probably get annoyed by it too. If they don't then there are probably a lot of little kids running around the playground during recess making whipcrack noises when they do anything and everything.
basically what I'm saying is that japan and france are the kings of animation
There's a LOT of amazing animation out there, there's absolutely no doubt about that but imo, Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli make some of the most stunning and beautiful animated things of all time, above anybody else. It's gonna be a goddamned shame when that man finally retires.
What the fuck is wrong with the sound editor. There is not a single second of silence on this show.
I am now aware that the dad is Mitch. ...which explains the excessive sound effects.

Love it wholeheartedly.
Flash can do some pretty awesome stuff when it's handled properly
i think panty and stocking was all flash, and that was really good they make fun of the fact that they used flash at the end of the show, where they make all the objects tween like mad and then collapse, but i can't find the clip.

Except it was just 12 seconds of "NOBODY BEAT MITCH DOT COM" rapidly repeating itself. We checked it out and saw he sold furniture and hot sauce. Couldn't remember the name of him, thanks!
They still do reruns of this show last time I checked. Its pretty good.
It still pisses me off because they were clearly setting up some cool stuff for the next season, and then it dies because they (not entirely clear on whose call it was) cancelled it in favor of a pile of shit. A pile of shit that recently got renewed for a third season. And meanwhile bullshit like Johnny Test goes on for six seasons seriously how the fuck why must good things die and shit things live.

TV Tropes has a drinking game page for the show
Take a shot whenever a character's arm makes a whip crack sound. Make sure you have an ambulance on your speed dial. Take a shot whenever you hear a fart noise. Take two shots if wasn't used for an actual fart. I think one of the only cartoons that can pull off the frequent sound effects and not be annoying is Ed, Edd, n Eddy. Which.. I just remembered is ALSO Canadian! Huh. But then again there are actual moments of silence v:v:v

This show just has constant sound effects during a regular conversation between characters. In Ed, Edd, n' Eddy, you'd hear a whip crack maybe if somneone turned 180 degrees in a comedic fashion, but on this show, someone raising their arm to point apparently warrents a whip crack.
