I never heard the whip cracks before and now they're all I can hear, thanks for that For comparison, here's the very first episode. Still terrible, but no shitty flash animation. Or whipcracks. A solid 6/10, maybe. EDIT:
In Norway we only got the first season. I was wondering why I couldn't quite relate to how terrible it was in the other vids.
I think the thing about whip cracks is that part of it is appealing to short attention spans, but part of it is an issue that's been brought up in the thread before. Characters don't really animate so much as snap from pose A to pose B, sometimes doing a motion tween afterwards, so they purposely overuse the whip crack to make their movement seem "snappy" instead of stiff. That's not to say it works, but that's the intent.
So my sister is watching an old episode and holy shit the animation is decent and there was rare whipcracking. Did I walk into an alternate dimension.
I remember the show Johnny Bravo also uses a lot of sound effects, including whipcracks
Are you insinuating that Johnny Bravo doesn't move so sexy fast that he creates swooshing sounds? Because he rarely ever moves slowly in the show. The sounds are very fitting. Johnny Test is like an example of how to NOT use sound effects. Especially with such little variety.
I think one of the only cartoons that can pull off the frequent sound effects and not be annoying is Ed, Edd, n Eddy. Which.. I just remembered is ALSO Canadian! Huh. But then again there are actual moments of silence v:v:v
As mentioned earlier, Scott Fellows had another show by the name of Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide. That show also made use of comedic sound effects, but it was done well by not constantly screaming for attention in the background. I remember it being quite good when I was a kid. This one was live-action, however.

This is NOT what I remember part of my childhood being.
My 25 year old brother watches Johnny Test. Just let that swish around in your mind for a moment.
Are the adult male fans called testicles?
I remembered there was one episode of this show where instead of parodying whatever was popular at the time, they parodied their own fucking show. Scott Fellows, you're the dude who made Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide, for crying out loud! What happened?!
I believe I have seen that one before. They had, like, a magic PVR right?
and the other episode where johnny test and the dog has a crush with themselves from a dimension where they are girls -video- this show is such shit
Didn't the show already have a female Johnny? and I watched some of that episode. The whipping is all I can hear.

I remember when Johnny Test first started airing in 2008 or so, I must've been like 14 at the time. At that age you don't usually find yourself criticizing stuff like cartoons, but even then, I knew this show was going to be awful from the start. I watched Total Drama Island and I found that a million times better than this crap, and even then that show's pretty bad too.
I actually quite like JT
I actually quite like JT
I hope someone whips your taste in cartoons into shape
I actually ran a audition filter to "delete silence" of a entire episode only 3 silence detected. 3!
I actually ran a audition filter to "delete silence" of a entire episode only 3 silence detected. 3!
doesn't count if it's the fade-out for commercial breaks
I thought they did guitar riffs for commercial breaks.
Hell, make this a drinking game and you'd be dead of alcohol poisoning within those 2 minutes already
Even if you take water instead of alcohol, your kidneys would die pretty quickly
I actually quite like JT
you have terrible taste
Oh my god, this reminds me of this Tom and Jerry show my little cousin watches. They overuse the shit out of the cymbals and it's so fucking annoying. It might just be me but it seems like they use it too fucking much.
it doesn't follow the same animation method. it is terrible and stiff. JT is really lame and I swear it's on constantly when I'm in the US, but there is no cartoon I hate more than As Told by Ginger That show made my insides rot whenever it came on.
alright well if we're just going to go nuts here Yes, truly there is an entire universe of animation that is better than Johnny Test.
You're an Okiura fan too? Sweet!
The fact that you can half-way understand the plot of Johnny Test if you only focus the whip cracks
I assume the whole point of Johnny Test was to make 2 scientist girls that people could rule 34.
The fact that you can half-way understand the plot of Johnny Test if you only focus the whip cracks
it's pretty sad because in that 'count the whipcracks' video posted on the first page I could actually figure out the majority of the episode's plot
it doesn't follow the same animation method. it is terrible and stiff. (click) [t]http://awsomesauce.files.wordpress.com/2012/02/line-of-action.jpg[/t]
Simpsons is like that too now, RIP glorious smooth animation on TV
