I was on metacritic and so far all 4 reviews it received were 100s
That is very rare for movies and one of the reviews was talking about how it might be one of the best movies of the decade.
I'm sort of cynical about it being about facebook, but it does looks pretty damn good.
i just read some of the reviews on rotten tomatoes. i'm honestly shocked, this may end up being a p. good movie.
Facebook wasn't a dumb idea, it was fucking brilliant. People are dumb for using it.
It's basically millions of blogs linked together. This means: People can be productive and say things others want to hear, update on projects, etc. Or, they can just talk about random shit that happened that day.
Usually it turns into the latter.
Holy shit

Only 5 reviews so far but a perfect 100, I may have to watch this.
david fincher
trent reznor
Was the deciding factor in me wanting to watch it

Isn't that like impossible?
I need to see this movie.
Isn't that like impossible?

I would say it's because it hasn't gotten a wide release yet, but regardless thats some pretty good early buzz
100% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 9.7/10 on metacritic?
Perhaps I should go see this.
I don't give a shit how good the reviews are, I will never, ever see this film.
I have absolutely no interest in learning about how this fuckwit stole the idea for Friendster and made billions of dollars doing so. I would rather watch paint dry than see this piece of shit.
I literally would not see this film unless I was paid to see it.
Really looking forward to seeing this. Unfortunately I think I'm going to miss the release night, because of work early the next morning. Probably won't be able to until sometime next week.
Facebook wasn't a dumb idea, it was fucking brilliant. People are dumb for using it.
Facebook was a rip-off of already existing social networks.
When Facebook got started the ONLY difference between it and the competition is that it required you to use a college e-mail to register, which made it more attractive to college kids than sites like Friendster and MySpace.
How is the website overhyped?
Wow, only about 1/10 of the planet's population use it.
Nope, not overhyped at all.
nobody uses those websites now
probably going to see it with my brother and mom

Are you crazy? Every single person I know uses facebook, even my mum. As for this movie I actually think it looks really good, might have to check it out.
Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross did the music too. This film is going to be fucking awesome.

It's too bad you've got such a negative attitude, you're going to be missing out on a fantastic film.
No, I'm going to be "missing out" on an overhyped piece of shit that everyone will be embarrassed to have watched and raved about in 5 years when Facebook is replaced by the next flash-in-the-pan piece of shit social networking site.

i meant friendster and myspace
i think analrapist is just mad that he would have no friends on facebook

Why are you so mad? Did The Social Network kill your parents? Grow up, it's going to be a good film and acting like a bitch cause you think it's gonna be bad is just stupid

So it wasn't just a first day fluke.
I got the impression it would be really good when I saw the commercial.
Most people in this thread (prior to the reviews coming in) thought it looked dumb because it was based on facebook. No one really gave any valid opinions as to why it looked bad, so it's nice to see those people shut up after they were all "HURR FACEBOOK STUPID". Almost feels like a bandwagon to get on the facebook hate train.

Damn, 41 reviews and still 100%.

So you're missing out on a good movie because you don't like facebook? Seems pretty stupid to me.
No, I'm not going to watch the movie because I DON'T LIKE THE FUCKING PREMISE OF THE FILM.
A drama about how an aspie cock-nugget ripped off an idea and then alienated all his friends by being a total asshole doesn't fucking appeal to me. I don't care how good the acting or directing is, the concept is boring.
How is that so hard for you guys to understand?

It's a David Fincher film and it has 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. It's going to be great.

I agree. I'm not watching this movie because it's different, and I don't like things that are different.

Don't mind me, I'm just saving this quote to a text file I have here entitled "Retarded Shit People Say Thinking They're Being Sarcastic, When In Reality They're Just Being Idiots.txt"

Also, Armond White's review has been posted:
http://www.nypress.com/article-21676-creeps-as-heroes.html
Like one of those fake-smart, middlebrow TV shows, the speciousness of The Social Network is disguised by topicality. It’s really a movie excusing Hollywood ruthlessness. That’s why it evades Zuckerberg’s background timidity and the mess that the Internet has made of cultural discourse. In interviews, Sorkin brags about the multiple narrative and Fincher has even invoked Citizen Kane—both are grandstanding excuses for Zuckerberg’s repeated masturbatory request for friendship—a mawkish George Clooney ending. Here’s the truth: Kane was not about a brat’s betrayal, but about a sensitive braggart’s psychological and philosophical shift inward. The Social Network is more like Hollywood’s classic film industry selfromance The Bad and the Beautiful. Yet that Kane-lite film never excused its bad-boy protagonist’s sins and ended magnanimously by converging his three injured parties’ points of view into one beautifully clarifying narrative. It admitted our cultural compromises; this is TV-trite. In The Social Network, creepiness is heroized.
