I highly advise you do what is necessary to get through it. The job prospects for people without anything beyond a high school diploma, for the most part, aren't very good. In my eyes, the younger you get your degree and into the job market, the better. As others have stated, personal health comes before anything. Being only seventeen, I don't think a year off or transferring to another school is a bad choice.

in my uni electrical engineering encompases both high and low. you can branch off via electives for focus

but ee focuses on the low first. my first 2 EE classes dealt with logic circuits and binary and such
