Last year I had an exam on my birthday (I'm always having exams on my birthday - this year, too). To make it worse, I had a middle ear infection and went to the doctor's to get some pain relief before I took it. I was given an injection to treat it, to which I had a significantly negative reaction to. I needed to be sedated for the entire week - just in time for my next exam.

But that doesn't change anything at all. Protesting is how African Americans stopped being second-class citizens who were segregated. It's how women got the vote. It's one of the main reasons as to why the western world works in good conditions, with good benefits. Protesting is a good thing.

If you're trained to help maintain an air fleet it's kind of hard to get another job when there's no other companies in Australia hiring. That's part of why Qantas has been able to give its workers shit all for pay and why they deserve the right to protest. A company doesn't die because it's share price falls (the fear of which is what I assume drove Alan Joyce to reject pay increases), and not doing anything is only going to fuck it further.

Also, the job I got is really easy. Well, after you lug 400+ 12 kg bags up six flights(?) of stairs. The view of Sydney harbour from the apartment being referbed is awesome. I'm going to take my camera on Monday and get a few pics.
