Micheal Bay's repressed sexual anger: the movie
That was awesome!
There was actual plot in this one! And yes there was explosions but it's a Michael Bay movie, what do you expect?
And I am one of the first people to see it, the first time living in Australia has been useful for this kind of thing.
Well technically there was a plot in the second, just not a very good one.

I blame writer strikes for the bad plot. And the last battle lasting too long.
Hey what happened with that Melbourne lasertag thing?
Mana Bar in Melbourne opens up the 16th of July. You guys should go there after your laser tag?
Melbourne people who intend to go to Mana Bar opening (I'd assume there's quite a few), wear a little facepunch badge on opening night? It's not like it'll be the weirdest thing anyone there is wearing.
that was a long day
One advantage of a private school, I am on holidays a week early :smug:

Did anyone in Melbourne go to the vic Uni open day last sunday? If you did, I was the dick head in the motion capture suit
I'm supposed to be going to swinburn tomorrow with my school to check out some courses or something.

I was gonna ask why would you go to Swinburne, but I just remembered that it's on your line and considering where you live it's probably the most realistic choice of uni.
That said, you could always hop off somewhere down the line and bus it to Monash if you wanted to go there.
you should not be picking the unis based off how close it is to you.
i can tell you in most instances, a graduate from monash or melbourne will be picked over one from swinburne or VU even if they do the same degree.
if you get the score to go to monash or melbourne, you should, unless the course is either better at another university, or it confirms a career afterwards

If you don't have the money to be able to get on campus residency then you probably should take into consideration ease of getting to uni. Monash was my first preference originally when it came to uni, but I couldn't get a job (still fucking can't) to get the money to pay to stay on campus, so when it came time to fill out our VTAC application forms for uni I had to abandon the Monash idea and instead chose RMIT (I live in the western suburbs by the way, so it really would have been almost impossible to get from here to Monash every day if I couldn't stay there).
Not too fussed though. RMIT is in a great location, pretty easy to get to and I'm really enjoying it so far. The lecturers and other students all seem really cool and friendly (every single person in my entire course (it's a small one albeit) are friends now), and the lectures are usually really informal which I absolutely love. There's a lot of chance to talk one-on-one with the lecturers while they're teaching and raise any issues you're having - they're quite happy to talk through things and seem to enjoy having any faults they've made pointed out.
Was thinking of maybe transferring to Melbourne uni but after spending a few hours there in total I thought... fuck that. I don't like the place. Not to generalise but everyone there seems really... I dunno... stuck up. The lecturers I saw/talked to seemed kind of arrogant and ass-holeish too. It didn't seem anywhere near as welcoming as RMIT (or Monash). Plus, at Melbourne uni I felt really 'outnumbered' by Asians. I was like one of the few white people there.
Besides, I don't give a shit what goes on my résumé. If I want a damn job in future in a certain area then I'm gonna get a damn job in it.
what i said before was not to talk down the significance or excellence of other universities, rather it was to point out what potential employers of graduates really do. good luck joining PwC after graduating from Sunraysia when people from Melbourne or Monash are competing for the same spot.

that's a fair point, although residency is typically only for students who live too far away to consider the daily commute. if that's the case, then of course residency costs is a major contributor to the decision.
i've got mates who come from further past footscray and sunshine to come to monash clayton. they're happy to do that (somehow) just because it's monash.
how far out from the city / eastern side do you live?

Point Cook. Closest stations are Hoppers Crossing and Laverton.
It's hell just getting to the station in the first place though. The buses are 40 minutes apart here and sometimes one bus will simply not turn up for god knows what reason, or the bus will be like 20 minutes late. I'll get there 15 minutes early to wait for the bus, and I'll end up catching a bus an hour down the line because the one I was waiting for never showed/took its sweet, sweet time.
It can take me up to an hour and a half to get to Melbourne Central from leaving my front door sometimes. Thankfully my mum can generally drive me to the station, though which generally drops that time to 45 minutes to an hour.

I am so fucking glad I live 15 minutes from the city. I'm currently aiming for Melbourne or RMIT.
I go to school in the city (shitload of asian friends and haven't been interested in a non-asian girl since year 7, yellow fever bro) so the whole "outnumbered by asians" thing isn't an issue at all.
